Khushi's has been on Broughton Street for many years and it doesn't seem to have changed much, except for the fact that it actually moved some years back and is now next door to its original location. I was pleased to revisit this small restaurant recently.

It doesn't look like much, peeling paint is how you might describe the decor. It still has eccentric looking chairs, but they're a bit faded too. But we came for the food. I started with a prawn puri which was tasty but not as big in quantity as I recalled from past encounters. The prawns are small in a slightly sweet sauce on a nicely puffed puri. That's about it really, served simply. My colleague had the chicken wings as they had run out of lamb kebab. This was a smallish plate piled high with 7 nicely cooked and tasty wings again in a slightly sweet sauce. Definitely more substance than style in the starters.

For mains we had Chicken Sindrie which is a spicy, pepper and mushroom curry. There is quite a lot of ghee floating around so calorie counters beware. It was extremely good and there was plenty of it. We also had a lamb rogan josh. This is a very red curry, in fact there is a theme of red through many of the dishes here, might be a bit too over coloured for some. This is great rogan josh, medium spiced. This was all joined by a large plate of pilau rice which oddly had no red colouring, just yellow and, as other reviewers have noted, a ridiculously large naan bread. I wonder if anyone ever finishes these? We didn't even get close but it's the best naan in Edinburgh, fresh out of the tandoor.

They have lager on draft and a modest wine list. The service on the night was good and the place was busy for a Thursday. Judging by activity, take away accounts for a substantial part of their business. So Broughton Street Khushi is great for food, its prices are average at about £12 per head for 2 courses for food and the decor is well past its best. To style gurus and weight watchers this place may not appeal, but for tasty food and Edinburgh's finest naan it's well worth a visit.

This is the best Indian I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot! The portions are huge and the naans are so fresh they'll burn your fingers, one easily feeds two hungry people!

I've been to this restaurant a number of times and the food has always been superb. This is not to be confused with the huge flashy Khushi's on Victoria Street whose only redeeming feature is that it's a BYOB. This Khushi's has recently increased their low prices (from the early 2000's I believe) but the food still offers great value and taste. The naan bread's are still bigger than the plates they come on. Overall a consistently good Indian restaurant.

A longstanding Edinburgh Indian restaurant, with consistently good food and service. Prices very reasonable. Also serves perhaps the largest naan breads in Edinburgh.
