I wasnt sure about this place - as I walk past it almost everyday on the way to work and the colours alone put me off even going inside.

I did however go there at the weekend and had one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The pasta is amazing (I had it with Calamari), pizzas and also the chicken kebabs looked very tempting. It isnt too cheap (£10-12 for a pasta main, £10-13 for a pizza) but it is still worth paying that wee bit more for the quality of the food and also the laid back surroundings

The staff here are also super nice which made the meal we had there.

On a Sunday it is BYO with no corkage (I think they do this Sun-Wed) which is brilliant as there seem to be fewer and fewer good BYO restaurants in Edinburgh

A bright and modern addition to Edinburgh's cafe/restaurant scene. The food is uncomplicated, fresh and allows great ingredients to shine - a far cry from some of the more traditional Italian restaurants which litter the city. The pizzas are to be highly recommended and as for the cakes, well I would make sure that you leaves some room for something rich, creamy and very naughty indeed.

If you don't have time for food the coffees are great and very good value. At £2 for a double espresso it puzzles me that Starbucks can survive in such close proximity to this place (a few yards down the hill). Only quibble would be the fact that every time I go I am given only one sugar with my coffee - some of us like it sweet and don't want to have to ask for more!

All in all, a great place for a bustling lunch. Just watch out for the acid green walls - not a great environment for those of a delicate constitution.
