Quite simply the best takeaway I've had in Edinburgh. We had 1 Chinese dish (Szechuan Chicken) and 1 Thai dish (Chicken Pahd Thai) and both were excellent - well cooked, tasty food - I've never been to China or Thailand, but I'm pretty sure this was more authentic oriental cuisine than you get from most takeaways!
We ordered our food over the phone and had it delivered - free as our order was over £15 (just). The girl on the phone was friendly and efficient and the food was delivered quicker than the quoted 45 minnutes.
Overall, I was well impressed and will be using them again and again.

I like the idea that you can order a variety of different types of cuisine from one place. However, after recently ordering a selection I think that other takeaways and restaurants that have a specific focus do things a little bit better.
Like Irishphat I was disappointed with the lemon chicken - this might well be to do with the lack of colourings and msg which they boast about. I think I would rather have the gloopy bright red lemon chicken that I'm used - even if it is not very good for me.
One more thing, shortly after ordering and them taking my mobile number I received a spam text (offering me free text messages). Now I hardly ever receive spam-texts so can't help thinking that Rick Shaws might have passed my number on to a third party, however, I have no further evidence to support this so it could well be coincidence...

We've had several takeaways from RickShaws. We've found it to be hit and miss. First couple were pretty good as we stuck to what we knew.
We tried branching out a bit on the menu after that and posibly it's us but we weren't really thrilled with what we got. We do want to give it a few more tries but so far I'm a bigger fan of Hung Lam in Newington or the small take away around the corner which does a smashing madras.
I'll update review later as I will give Rick shaws another go.
Verdict for now is that it is good value, decent food, quick to arrive, comes in cardboard containers, and the variety is nice if you can't agree on a style of food. good website too.
Hits: We had Ka re Ga and that was great
Hits: Thai Red Chicken Curry was also very good.
Medium - Crispy Chilli Shredded Beef
Miss: The lemon Chicken was pretty poor.

Review One:
The best feature of this place is the cardboard takeaway tubs the food comes in - they're just like in the movies. We ordered Indian food (although they also do Chinese, Thai and Italian) for two and the food took about 50mins to arrive. Not bad these days, all takeaways seems to take longer and longer. Hopefully this reflects the effort put into the cooking!
The food was very fresh and although it wasn't the best I've ever had, I think that was more down to my being experimental with my selection than the food/company itself. The peshwari naan was good and all in all the meal was enjoyable.
Now, the exciting thing about Rick Shaw's (as I was told by the guy who gave me the flyer on Bruntsfield Place a few weeks ago) is that they deliver the food in a rickshaw. So once the guy had run up the stairs and offloaded his produce, we dutifully scurried to the window in a very excited state. We looked outside for the rickshaw, but could we find it!? "it must be around the corner", so we waited and watched where the guy went - he climbed into a new Mini. I was totally gutted.
Is there no authenticity in the world anymore? "Well, no there isn't you muppet - a rickshaw in Edinburgh? How many Indian people in Edinburgh do you know who drive a rickshaw?"
So basically, don't get excited about the rickshaw, but if you do see it, jump up and down clapping your hands. Overall, the food is well cooked and I recommend you give this place a try.
Review Two:
I have now ordered from Rick Shaws for a second time and was most impressed. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Peshwari Naan and rice. For years I have resisted the British national dish (after having eaten tonnes in my early teenage years) and the reasons for loving it back then came flooding back to me. It was very well cooked, the naan was tasty, you got just the right amount and the 40minute delivery time was as predicted.
I still definitely recommend that you give this place a try.

Got a takeaway last weekend from here - what a great idea! If you ever cannot agree on what take away to get opt for here as they cater for Thai, Chinese, Italia, Indian mainly. Not an overly extravagent menu but the food was delish. We both ordered a Thai soup - to be fair you could share a tub as it was huge! I went for Thai main and my boyfriend went for Chinese - Beef dish which he said was great. No rickshaw in sight and it took over an hour for delivery (but they said it would when we ordered). Slightly more expensive but would use again (sorry I can't now remember EXACTLY what I ate....).

Don't get much food delivered (twice this year I think) so when I say this was the finest delivery food I have had please do not read too much into it.
Between 3 of us we had Indian and Chinese options, Indian was as good as many sit-in restaurants, the chinese option was the best thing I have tasted from a Chinese menu in the UK, and massively better than anything I ate in a fortnight in china (bar an Indian in Hong Kong).
Delivery took a wee bit longer than quoted on the phone but at 9 on a Friday night I can accept that. The delivery box is a good idea, so much nicer than a plastic bag.
