My fiancee and I went to Bar Italia after work one evening because it was close to where we worked and we felt like trying somewhere new.
It was fairly quiet so we got seated quickly and were presented with the (rather small) menu. I ordered the calzone and my better half ordered a pizza - our drinks were served fairly quickly so no complaints there. The staff were very friendly too, but seemed a bit distracted and it was quite hard to get their attention.
Once the food eventually arrived after a longer than expected wait, we tucked in. My calzone was rather bland to be honest and it seemed like they had scrimped on the fillings but otherwise was ok. My fiancee had no complaints about her pizza either.
When it come to asking for the bill, the staff had all but disappeared and we waited and waited until one of them appeared and had to gesticulate wildly to get their attention.
All in all, it wasn't a particularly bad dining experience but on the other hand it wasn't anything to rave about. The prices are a tad on the high side and the staff just seemed uninterested in serving us, so we felt a bit 'meh' over the meal. I remember wishing that we'd stuck to what we knew and had went over the road to Darios instead, where we would have been much happier.

Absolutely catastrophic. The worst house wine I have ever tasted and two very average pizzas which took an hour to arrive (restaurant was about 1/5 full) because waiter and pizza chef somehow contrived to mislay the order check.
Bill was presented with 10% service charge which was the final insult. This was deducted along with another 50% for the substandard food, wine and service supplied. Frankly, they were lucky to get any money at all and the payment of only half the bill prompted threats of them calling the police.
'Go ahead' I replied. 'It's our fault this place is so appalling?'.
Avoid unless very drunk and very hungry. This being so, you'd be as well going for a kebab.

Having just returned from this restaurant I am absolutely appalled to have to return straight to my flat to write an absolutely dreadful review.
After a decent start we were then disgusted to find what appeared to be a curly black pubic hair in the pasta dish and caught the attention of the waiter who then brought out another plate of it. By then we had all been put off our meals and did not want to finish the rest and said we didn't want to pay for the food considering we had not been able to fully enjoy it, but of course offered to pay for the wine.
The manager was then called over and said we had to pay for the food and we explained the reasons for refusing to pay to which he said he would give us a discount. When the bill came out they had only taken an abysmal 20% off the final food bill which didn't even cover the cost of one meal.
We paid and left the restaurant to then be chased by one of the waiters and accused of not paying for our meal!!!!!! We obviously should have not paid for the meal considering we were only going to be accused of not paying anyway. This waiter had also been quite rude to us as if we were just posh students that did not want to pay for the meal and had made some very snide remarks.
I would thoroughly dissuade people from going to this restaurant in the future due to bad customer service and low levels of hygiene.

I recently visited Bar Italia for a work reunion and was utterly delighted with the whole experience. I have been here many times and I can honestly say I have never been let down.
The food was delicious, I had medaglazioni, although the menu has been refined recently, they have left a thoroughly varied choice, most of which fails to reach other Italian menus. All the ingredients tasted extremely fresh, and the food was served promptly. The staff were lovely and always had a smile on there face even when harassed.
The only let down I feel is that the restaurant could do with new decor to revive the place.
The bill was also served promptly when requested, overall if you are looking for an authentic Italian meal with a great atmosphere this is the place to go.
