Just back from a really good night, we only came to Beirut because our usual haunt of Hanams was fully booked. Well that has worked out well because now we have another excellent choice of restaurant to visit in Edinburgh.

We had our friends from the west through and they as well as us really enjoyed the food, which was tasty but not to spicy. The bill for 4 starters and 4 main courses was £63, we were their for 3 hours (brought our own alcohol) and had a very good time. The staff were very hospitable without being overbearing!

Excellent experience - we'll be back.

We have been there several times and food is always good and staff friendly and helpful. My only criticism is the giant always-on TV.

We are Lebanese and for sure this is the best we have tasted in Scotland. Ahmed and Selma were great hosts and we will definitely be back.

Excellent service, food and value for money. We had 4 starters and a salad: moussaka, falafel, lamb sausages, chickpea and tomatoes plus salad. We could not finish all of it and cannot understand the complaints about small portions. Our bill was £30 for two including corkage, we would be delighted if those who thought the food at Beirut was over priced could recommend where we could eat the same quality of food and service in the centre of Edinburgh for less money.

I had heard that some folks in Edinburgh were mean and narrow minded, loosen up and enjoy something different!

Living in the middle east my whole life and then coming to study in Edinburgh has definitely made me miss arab food and so I thought I'd try Beirut. Definitely going back! The food looked absolutely amazing and tasted that way too. Great value for money. And the owner is lovely!

I've been waiting for this place to open for ages as I love Lebanese food. I went there on Saturday night, the place was full and we had to wait more than 25 min to get a table. It took a fair bit of time for the food to come but it was realy worth the wait. I had falafel for my starter which was delicious, for main course I had lamb shawarma which was so nice and tender where it just melts in your mouth. Not to forget the amazing fresh strawberry juice. It's not cheap but worth every penny. I'll definitely go there again.

Fnally I could eat Lebanese food here in EDI, but shame it was not what I thought it would be.

I hope they can improve their services because there was a delay between serving the foods and cleaning the tables and waiting someone to pay.

They need to fix the taste of falafel and moutabal - I felt it was from a tin.

Otherwise it was nice to be there.

I went there just a few weeks ago and I have to admit the service was not really as you would expect and staff didn't know what they were dealing with.

The most important thing has to be that this is honestly one of the worst restaurants for portion and price.

Two of us went and spent just over £45 for 2 main meals and starters.

I think the food was nice I must admit but the portion is too small and especially when fresh mango juice was from a Rubicon and the glass was so small so I had to go every 2 minutes and ask for a drink.

Greeted by staff kissing in kitchen, young waitress and who looked like the chef deeply smooching! Nice but not in a restaurant! Food was quick and tasty slightly over priced. Shall not go again as service was not up to standard.

I love traditional Lebanese food and Beirut is the place. The food was amazing especially the moussaka and the houmus beside the amazing fresh juices. The deco was nice and amazing atmosphere. Defo one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh.

It is my 1 year wedding anniversary and my wife is Lebanese and she adores Lebanese food. However my wife has an obsession with hygiene. We arrived at the restaurant on Tuesday evening only to be greeted by the waitress and chef blocking the entrance with smoke. They were smoking and what looked like a can of beer in there hands. My wife was appalled and suggested we go somewhere else. Deeply disappointed as we had taken a taxi from Penicuik to come to Beirut.

First time for us on Saturday on 28th October, we had a show booked at the Festival Theatre and thought it would be ideal which it was.

2 starters and 2 mains, excellent value, really enjoyed our meal and we will go back, you could really taste the flavours and spices. Think we might just work our way down the menu.

It had been recommended to us by a friend who had been the week before and we will and have been recommending to others to try it out.

Thanks for great service as well, very attentive.

We could not believe our luck. At the height of the Edinburgh Festival we managed to get a table for 7 people at the restaurant. It was extremely busy and the staff rushed off their feet, but this did not not affect the standard of service we received. All the waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. Portions were huge.

I was there earlier tonight and what an amazing experience I had. The food was mouth-watering to say the least and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Felt at home and loved how we could bring our own alcohol. Would highly recommend the lamp chops - enough to do me for lunch the next day. I had this with the amazingly fresh orange mango juice. I feel so content.

Wanted to write this review as the staff were just awesome and can't thank them enough. Shall be back next weekend with my boyfriend.

Being half Lebanese I was so excited about the new Lebanese restaurant I just found in Edinburgh, so decided to take a trip from fife last weekend with my family to come and try the food which I can honestly say we were not disappointed at all.

The welcome was very friendly as were welcomed and seated by the owner of Beirut. The deco was so homely and modern at the same time. From wooden beams flying across the ceiling to red feature wall beside nice pictures from Lebanon which brought nice happy memories.

Later we were served by a very friendly waitress who took our order where we went for the selection for 4 option and I think it was a very clever choice. We had about 10 different starters, from hummus, baba ghanoug and falafel to soujouk and tabbouleh salad and I can say it was as good as my mums home cooking. Very fresh, very tasty and full of flavours. Then for mains it was mixed grills which was brilliant and cooked to perfection. felt so content but I couldn't resist the baklawa after which is a Lebanese traditional dessert. It was the best I had in years.

Dinning in this place was a very nice experience and I can't wait till m in Edinburgh next as I'll defo be there for my dinner. It's very highly recommended as the atmosphere the service and the foarena 100% spot on.

Me and my partner been dinning at this lovely restaurant for the past year and we've yet to feel disappointed. Lovely food and full of flavours, attentive service, atmosphere and value for money. In my opinion ignore the bad reviews and go and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

After living and working in Lebanon for two years I was looking forward to my dinner at Beirut restaurant and I was not disappointed, food is amazing, authentic and full of flavours. Batata Hara was tasty, and my farrouj (boneless baby chicken char grilled) was amazing, finished my meal with an apple shisha outside and a glass of fresh melon juice.

Amazing restaurant and deserves the reputation, can't recommend enough.

Absolutely dreadful.

Food was burnt and toilets smelt like it never had fresh air circulate it.

Staff dress in the smallest mini skirts and shirts opened revealing hairy chests which is off putting.

Lamb chops were cremated!

Thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday lunch when all four of us agreed that we would very happily come again. The surroundings were comfortable. The food was authentic. Our choices were excellent quality. The portions were generous. The waitress was delightful and her service was first class. Absolutely nothing to dislike. Can't wait to come again when I am next in Edinburgh.

There has been much hype surrounding Edinburgh's latest culinary addition, and sadly it failed to live up to my expectations. The menu was limited due to it being the festival, which I can understand, however the festival can not be used as an excuse to serve up substandard food.

I ordered a selection of hot and cold Mezzes: Humous, Okra, Halloumi, "Beirut Salad" and Falafal. What I got was nothing short of take away food on a plate, and if you go see for yourself you'll see I'm not exaggerating! If you like iceberg lettuce then you'll love Beirut, however if you have any idea of what delights Lebanese/Middle Eastern food can offer you will be severely disappointed.

On the upside the service was fantastic and yes maybe they are just finding their feet but personally I wouldn't waste my time here.

last week we went to try the first Lebanese restaurant in Edinburgh. I didn't know what to expect as I never had Lebanese food before. The decor is very nice and modern where you can tell an effort been made. The food was really nice, tasty and different. Price-wise it was ok as you get free bread and free rice with your main course. The staff were really nice and friendly and the service was good. I will definitely recommend it to friends.

Looked nice, but the smell of bleach and burned meat was off putting. The waitress was miserable and unattentive (although we were later served by a very nice Spanish waitress who was great) Staff were smoking outside the door, food was slow to arrive and most of it was not very nice.

Lamb chops were charcoal, my dad didn't touch any of his shredded dried out chicken at all, and although they provided a high chair, they did not cater for children. Also, one of our group was disabled, and the only disabled loo was out of order.

I don't think this place does Lebanese food justice, and the takeaway bit seemed to get priority over the diners.

Was here at the weekend and had an a brilliant meal. The best hummus ever with an outstanding service, definitely authentic Lebanese. After being recommended by friends and reading the reviews we are glad we tried this place and will be back on a regular basis.
