I had the same issue as mdavidson previously mentioned - I am no longer a student and found that loads of stuff on the menu would have been half price if I was. Would I be better off ordering something noton the offer as it's maybe worth more if they're not willing to give it away half price?
Anyway, I was hungover, so I had the Scottish breakfast (which is on the BOGOF student offer). I was going to tell the barman that I wasn't a student and would be paying full price so wanted my plate really loaded up but my friend wouldn't let me.
It was average, and worse value than lots of other places nearby for breakfast where you get orange juice and coffee with breakfast (Frankensteins and Native State immediately come to mind).
The staff were also pretty rubbish and not very attentive. Upside of this was that when we eventually caught someone's eye and asked for the bill they had missed off the second round of drinks.
Not at all convinced by the fairly recent makeover either.

I went along on Sunday in a large group (7) and we had no trouble getting a seat. It is one of those places where you could guess the menu before you get there - soup of the day, burgers, all-day breakfasts, fajitas - the usual mix for a bar/pub in Edinburgh or anywhere.
I opted for the Scottish Breakfast which arrived without a fried egg - seconds later an embarrassed looking waitress presented me with my fried egg in a bowl. It was pretty good and came with a generous side of toast.
Biblos is one of those places that operate 2 for 1 deals on meals for students. Unfortunately I am no longer a student so had to pay full price for my breakfast (£6.95). The 2 for 1 deals aggrieve me slightly as (in addition to costing more of my hard earned pennies) it means that the bar is making a tidy return on my non-student meal or I am subsidising students' meals. Oh well, I suppose I did make the most of these deals myself when I was a student.
I think it has recently been done-up a bit (though not fully refurbished) but it is a bit of a strange mix of old and new with bookshelves and iron chandeliers mixed with generic modern bar stuff, I couldn't quite work it out. It has also installed a flat screen tv for no apparent purpose as it was showing MTV without the music playing - why?
I will probably go back as it is a convenient location but would not plan to go there especially.
