I come here a lot. It's easily the favorite lunch location for the people at my work. I've been 3 times within the last week. In that time, I've had a venison and basil burger (from the specials list) with chips (they do great chips) for £6.50; lasagne and, um, chips (really tasty) for about £6 and Steak & Ale pie with chips (Did I mention the chips were really good?) for about £6 too.
From experience I can also recommend the Nachos and the enchilada although these do have the downside of not coming with chips...actually, that's not true, they will give you chips with the enchilada if you really wanted.
The stand-out dish is the burgers in my opinion, convincingly homemade and very tasty. The staff are laid-back and friendly and it's really good value for lunch.
The room could possibly do with a lick of paint but overall it's a welcoming, filling and tasty place to visit... and the chips are very good indeed!!

This is the perfect example of one of those reasonably-priced hip places relatively near city centre that the locals are loathe to tell tourists about. (I'm a hybrid. Expat American living here so I'm torn between loyalty to my home country and smugness that I'm actually Scottish now).
The atmosphere could not be friendlier, the food is tasty and reasonably priced.
Homophobes should go to Pizza Hut. Everyone else will LOVE this place.
