Really excellent food. They do a trout dish which is particularly tasty. Also, for takeaway, if you are prepared to collect your order it will be ready in around 10 minutes.

I have now lived in Edinburgh 9 years and have known about this place for most of that time, however I had never, until recently, made it to dinner here.
With the recent refurbishment I thought it high time that I rectified the situation and so on a Monday evening a few weeks ago I went here with my girlfriend. We were seated very promptly, despite the place appearing to be quite busy (in contrast to Tero's review, this should say alot about a place's reputation).
We only had a main course and were not overly impressed. Perhaps if I wasn't a bit of an Indian food connoisseur then I would have been impressed. As it was the food was fairly standard, and certain not up to Khushi, Voujon, or Cavalry Club standard. Having ordered only one rice and one naan between us we decided that another rice was needed, so I grabbed the waiter's attention, not all that easily it must be said, and ordered another drink and another rice. As is the way with these things you keep eating without the rice until it appears, not wanting to cause a fuss and pester, but after while it seemed like the rice wasn't coming. I was very close to reminding the waiter, but by this time I did not have all that much curry left, so I started to hope it wouldn't come. It didn't and needless to say the drink didn't arrive either.
When we asked for the bill it arrived promptly and the door was held open for us as we left. Based on this I would say that the service was just a one off lapse, but there's no excuse for the food not to sparkle in such an establishment.
Would I recommend this place? Nope, go to Voujon or Khushis.

Excellent local. Great food at decent price.
One of the best curry I had in Edinburgh.
Great portions too.

Good food but not spectacular - it seems a bit overrated. The "spicy" curry I ordered was not spicy at all.

Decent sized portions, really excellent food and reasonably priced. It was very busy and a bit crammed in but other than that no complaints - would eat there again.

It tells something about a restaurant that it is practically empty on friday evening at 9. Food was very intermediate, you'd expect as good from a local take away anytime. Prices are not high but but in relation to quality too high. You'll receive the same much cheaper elsewhere. For example samosa had still almost frozen peas in it. Service was not bad but didn't impress either.
