I once ordered a takeaway from Chimei - I won't be back. The food took an age and was bland and tasteless. I can see what they're getting at, as they seem to have some variations on the usual Chinese restaurant fare, but unfortunately they were wide of the mark with me. :(

My normal Chinese takeaway was closed so took a chance with this one I found on the internet.
Ordered Lemon Chicken with Fried Rice & Prawn Crackers.
Said it would take 40mins - it actually came early. After eating the meal it was really good, the sauce with the lemon chicken was lovely & the prawn crackers were fresh (not like some Chinese that give you ones that've been lying for hours) & I got a fortune cookie (not had one of them in years).
Overall it is a good takeaway - give it a try.

I have had deliveries from Chimei's for about 2 years and they have always delivered early and the food is amazing. You have to try the cheese and chicken rolls and chicken satay on skewer starters. Also have to mention the man who answers the phone he is just lovely.

I like Chimei because they do a fabulous Nasi Goreng. I get the chicken and it is like chicken fried rice but with extras! You get 2 really tasty battered chicken skewers in a really good mild sweet chilli sauce.
Must say delivery isn't always super fast but that's usually when I order at half 7 on a Saturday.

As a great fan of duck (with fresh chillies) I found that this take-away offered quality and quantity with this dish...
However... on both occasions that I have ordered from this take-away I did not receive what I asked for... on the first occasion they added an extra meal (which was delivered and paid for, so I had it the next day for dinner)... on the second the fresh chillies mysteriously vanished.
On the plus side the staff are friendly, delivery is fast and they are open late.

My girlfriend and I ordered from Chimei after finding the good review above. She had Chicken in a Yellow Bean sauce and boiled rice. I had Beef fried rice, my usual.
Delivery was quick and the food was reasonable ... until about 3.30am when I felt sick: food poisoning.
I took the next day off work to recover, spending the whole day in bed until my girlfriend returned from work with man-illness supplies.

Living halfway Leith Walk I used to go to this Chinese take-away often. I normally call the order in and then pick it up later. This normally goes fine, but if you have 6 guests at your flat, it can take a wee bit longer! We had to wait for over an hour for that perticular order. Anyway, my general problem with this take-away (and with most UK based Chinese take-aways) is that after a while all the different dishes taste the same. Glupy, fatty, oily dishes. The sate sauce never really tasted like sate sauce, and the sweet and sour actually could have been the sate sauce. It's a friendly business though, don't get me wrong. I give 2,5 stars because I've been quite often to this restaurant, but I won't go there again. One of the things I dislike is that you can't see the kitchen from the waiting area. I always like Chinese take-away restaurants where you can see your order being cooked while you're waiting, so you're sure it's made fresh.
