Friendly little neighbourhood restaurant that does excellent steak as well as the fish it's better known for. Also good for large groups as the restaurant is split into two sections, one of which is long and narrow and ideal for 10-20 people at one long table.

Quaint and busy little restaurant in Dalry specialising in steak and seafood. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine and seem happy to give recommendations. When we were there my husband had the lamb chops, which like every other time he complained of the size. I thought the portion was a good size but I agreed with him that the potatoes it came with were not that great. But since this was a few months ago, this might not be on the menu now which is something I love about this place. It changes with the seasons and if you wait and go again there will be different things on the menu. I had steak frites. I rarely eat steak but every once in a while it's a treat and I am glad I chose this place. The steak was cooked a little more done than I would have liked and asked for but it was flavourful, well seasoned and well sized. The chips it came with were divine. They were sprinkled with pepper and salt that must have been almost a powder. It stuck to the chips beautifully and made me wish that all chips were dusted with this stuff. For the price, this place is fantastic and I hope to go back soon.

Has never dissapointed once over the last 2 years. Great menu that rotates on a regular basis, but the good stuff always sticks around. Would like to say I have eaten my way round the menu but in reality often struggle to see past the fantastic steak. Starter options are always interesting and usually something a little quirky on there, the deserts always features something that you last had at school dinners but done oh so much better (recently this was set chocolate custard, previously jam roly poly, eton mess etc). Great service, reasonably priced and nice surroundings.

First Coast? First Class! This place is a bit out of the way, located to the SW of the city centre. Perhaps that is why the food is so good, it has to rely on returning trade as I don't imagine many people 'drop-in' on their way past. I have eaten there a few times now and have never been disappointed. On my last visit I had a fillet steak; it was up there with the best steaks I have ever eaten, to start with it wasn't overcooked! The menu also has a very strong seafood element to it and contains some unusual but tastey starters. A good location for a quiet meal but even better for dinner with friends. Very reasonably priced and a laid-back, friendly and efficient service.

A lovely quiet restaurant with friendly staff offering a limited but wide variety of food and a good selection of house wines. It's not just a seafood restaurant as the name seems to suggest & with a menu that changes frequently, each return visit presents a new experience for your taste buds. Definitely in my top 5 places to eat in Edinburgh, well worth a try!

A group of us dined here last night having booked the table for 8.15pm. I had belly of pork and the tastiest mashed potataoes I have ever tried, the pork was succulent and the crackling was great. My friends had the hake and they enjoyed it, others had the marinated spicey chicken, another one the steak, all pretty much enjoyed. I feel I should point out that the hake came by itself and to have veg and mash cost another £6. Overall whilst we did enjoy the meal we felt (with the exception of the steak) that the portions were a little bit small.
The restaurant was very busy but it was one hour before we got our meal put down to us... a little too long we felt. Service was good staff nice and friendly.
I'd return but probably at a quieter time.

Good food, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. I particularly recommend the steak - one of the few restaurants I know that can truly cook a blue steak. Don't let the out of the way location put you off.
