Hamiltons Bar and Kitchen, 18 Hamilton Place, EH3 5AU, Edinburgh
Went to Hamiltons on Friday to take a client there for lunch.
Really nice little place with excellent friendly staff and a welcoming ambiance.
I opted for the ploughmans lunch and it was delicious! Slightly too much rocket leaves with it and not quite enough cheese but still very good. (with massive home made style pickeled onions - yum!) My dining companion opted for the chicken ceasar sandwish with came with parsnip chips that were excellent. Presentation was really cool as the dishes were served on cool chopping board things and the chips came in a little silver bucket! Really liked the style.
Hamiltons was very busy but the service was sharp and we didn't need to wait long for food.
Our bill which included ploughmans, chicken ceasar sandwich, 2 soft drinks a coffee and a tea came to just under £20 - excellent value for money.
I will be back :)

Had been here for lunch and had a good time so decided to try it for dinner. Service was ridiculously slow (we had to wati 40 mins) for our dinner. It does say on the menu that cooking will be a while as all cooked from fresh so you are warned. Evening menu is very limited though with not much to choose from. I would recommend it for lunch if you aren't in a hurry but for dinner it doesn't have much to offer.

This place was my refuge when I first moved to Edinburgh because they have wi-fi and I was having a "time" with BT over broadband so I sort of lived there.
As a result, I ate there fairly often. The staff couldn't be nicer. The food is excellent and not too pricey. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken nachos.
If you go in on a late Sunday afternoon, you can relax with a paper, have a bite, and listen to live music.
This is a GREAT local restaurant and bar.
