I went here on the Sunday of Wimbledon Men final and had a great lunch. I had actually been for dinner on the Wednesday and our waiter was the best and so friendly and helpful when I asked if we were able to book a table in front of the TV for the Sunday.

Dinner menu has changed a lot from when I was last here and has a great selection of meals on it. I went for the Mushroom burger which was great (the parsnip fries are brilliant too!). For lunch I decided to go for the meat burger which again was brilliant - huge burger so was quite difficult to eat - but thats the way a burger should be.

Service is very good - I have had the same guy the past few times I have been there and he is very good.

Main courses vary from about £8-10 but the portions are all very big.

Puddings are £3-4 - I had the raspberry and passionfruit cheese cake which was really good!

Great place for a nice relaxed dinner/lunch and a few drinks

Went to Hamiltons on Friday to take a client there for lunch.

Really nice little place with excellent friendly staff and a welcoming ambiance.

I opted for the ploughmans lunch and it was delicious! Slightly too much rocket leaves with it and not quite enough cheese but still very good. (with massive home made style pickeled onions - yum!) My dining companion opted for the chicken ceasar sandwish with came with parsnip chips that were excellent. Presentation was really cool as the dishes were served on cool chopping board things and the chips came in a little silver bucket! Really liked the style.

Hamiltons was very busy but the service was sharp and we didn't need to wait long for food.

Our bill which included ploughmans, chicken ceasar sandwich, 2 soft drinks a coffee and a tea came to just under £20 - excellent value for money.

I will be back :)

"The Hamo" is a nice spot for breakfast. I have been a few times for brunch after nights out. The cooked breakfast is pretty tasty and I have also had the burgers. Prices are reasonable and fair. Portion sizes are decent and I have never left hungry. The coffees are a tad small if i recall correctly. The Hamo is a bright airy joint with a lively atmosphere. Mostly full of thirty-somethings who have too much cash and think they are a bit cool.

I have also been for early evening drinks there, it is a bit overpriced to be honest for beers, or maybe i am just tight and behind the times. They have really comfy leather sofas/chairs and they often have loads of papers lying around, which is cool if you are not in a rush and just want to chill out.

This place was my refuge when I first moved to Edinburgh because they have wi-fi and I was having a "time" with BT over broadband so I sort of lived there.

As a result, I ate there fairly often. The staff couldn't be nicer. The food is excellent and not too pricey. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken nachos.

If you go in on a late Sunday afternoon, you can relax with a paper, have a bite, and listen to live music.

This is a GREAT local restaurant and bar.

A really nice spot with delicious food, free wifi, friendly, chilled out yet efficient staff and a fairly good selection on a frequently changing menu.

Have been here for dinner previously, which was well enjoyed by our group of 8, so wandered back today for some lunch. Delicious parsnip chips accompany the sandwiches and the homemade coleslaw is divine!

Hamilton's has quite a nice buzz and good tunes at an appropriate volume. You can also pick to sit on the huge couches/soft chairs or up at the tables/restaurant area which may suit better if you're taking advantage of the wifi.

A final good word for the funky Lichtensteinesque wall coverings, the touchfree sinks (that actually work well - a first in my experience!) and the hand lotion in the toilets, a nice wee touch.

Missing the last star for a slightly slim veggie range the day I visited although I'm sure this isn't always the case and the goat's cheese focaccia I did choose was delicious.

Would definitely recommend this place and will be back, hope you get a chance to enjoy it!

I live in Morningside but have been eating and drinking in Stocky for years. I am now hooked on Hamiltons. I go there quite often - friendly staff, great decor and the food is amazing. They print their menus on A4 paper (I asked why and it's because they change them so often - brilliant). The food changes all the time which I love since there is always something new to try and the chef must be on the ball since the food is always perfect for the season we are in. Go on a Sunday night and hear the band, or chill out on the sofas and booths. Avoid the uptown venues where everything is the same and get back to what we do best in this city - great, home cooked food, friendly service and relaxed... I know I sound like I'm ranting but I was up town last weekend and I felt that I was being herded like cattle! Hamiltons rocks... check it out.

Really great venue, amazing decor. All the staff are really friendly and chatty. Food is always great although I did notice that my favourite salad had just been taken off the menu - boo.

Always a great option for lunch, dinner or drinks.
