Hung Lam Chinese Take Away, 96 South Clerk St, EH8 9PT, Edinburgh

I'm on my way here now as it's my standard take away in the area. I generally find it to be cheap and cheerfull with excellent grub. So far I've had the Szezuan, Sweet and Sour (both regular and Hong Kong Style), beef and mushroom, lemon chicken and my all time favourite and tonight's likely fare - Singapore noodles.

All very tasty and personally I think they taste like Chinese take-away ought to taste. Usual sized portions and usually dead easy to eat and finish off. Good sized spring rolls as well. I've also had the spicy chicken wings which are top notch.

Delivery is usually prompt - used to be by a guy who used to be in the Royal Engineers who has some great stories about being in the south east asian area in the 60s while on tour (ask him about Gurkhas). Highly entertaining.

Good grub, reliable and affordable.

I was here a couple of times and the food was awful. The reason was that the sweet & sour I ordered was full of little black spots which I believe is from an unclean wok.

My advice is to avoid this place...
