Went to the Kings Wark with some co-workers for lunch on a Friday. It was packed out so I was glad that we had a reservation. Great atmosphere, a true, old style pub with decent food that goes way beyond what you usually find. The ingredients were fresh and freshly prepared and there were numerous specials of the day.
I ordered the seafood chowder which came topped with paprika mayonaisse which at first I thought was rather strange but it was a nice complement to the chowder. I was a bit dissapointed at first as I had ordered a man course sized portion and what came I thought to be rather small. Upon leaving the pub however, I was glad that the chowder didnt come in a bohemouth of a dish!
My co-workers enjoyed their choices as well, a steak sandwich, one of the fish specials and a rabbit rissotto. The only complaint here was that the risotto could have had much more rabbit, but it was nicely flavoured overall.
I will forgive that it took quite a while for us to be served as it was realy busy and we arrived at the peak of the day. Next time will have to try a little earlier or later.
A great place for good pub grub and fish specials.

Very friendly wee pub, totally unpretentious and with excellent food, how pub eating ought to be. My lanb was awesome, and I can vouch for the Cod and the smoked haddock.
Very friendly staff were happy to accomodate our unusual timing, we ate as soon as the kitchen opened then legged it to a show and returned for puddings and coffee later, not sure that would be encouraged in all their customers but our request was greeted with a genuine smile.
only complaints were a couple of sub-standard puddings.
Go there for good food in a relaxed setting.

Not bad for a pint but I didn't really rate the food. They do give you loads of free crusty bread but they also gave my mate a day and a half sitting on the pan after he took on the mussels.

Breakfasts are a great hangover cure on a weekend.

This traditional pub does good beer and good food at a decent price. Often hard to get a table, which I guess is a testament to its quality. The toilets are indeed pretty horrible, but who cares?

They say you should judge a place by there toilets if this is the case I would not like to see inside their kitchen.
1. Rude staff with attitude.
2. Filthy toilets (Male & Female)
3. If you like frozen oven chips amd mashed garden peas with everything it should be ok for you!
