I had a family saturday lunch here a while ago and was very impressed. It is a great true italian restaurant with amazing seafood on offer - I had the seafood platter which I remember being particularly good. In typical Italian style the staff are prepared for all evantualities with children (we have 4 of different ages in our group). They were also happy to adapt a couple of things on the menu to meet our requirements. I havent been for dinner as yet but would recommend this to any Italian food fan as it is still one of the best I have been to in edinburgh

Came here on chance that they would have a table at 8pm on Saturday... Never have they had one but this time we were in luck! I had always wanted to eat at this cute place having sampled many treats from its sister cafe, Dolce y Salato, across the street.

We were greeted right away and after a few back and forth conversations (in Italian) between the staff they lead us to a table for two. Swift and polite the whole way through the meal.

We only ordered mains and desserts for our meal and next time I think we will go the whole hog as it was all so good. I had the mixed seafood (I forget what it was called!) which was baked with oil, garlic and lemon. A mix of langostine, fish fillet, shrimp and (one) scallop. I wish it was just a huge plate of langostine though! Despite this, it was cooked beautifully. My husband had a pasta dish with mushrooms and crab. Very good. The pasta was obviously fresh but I thought they could have been more heavy handed on the crab.

For dessert I had tiramisu (the real kind) and he had the chocolate cake. As I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake I thought it was ok but have to say that I had to smuggle in a taste before it was devoured. The tiramisu was nice and how it should be, not made with sponge cake and cream!

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in an authentic Italian meal in cozy surroundings.

I enjoy the food here, and have had good luck with what I've ordered (the seafood platter in particular) however my dining companions have at times not been so lucky. On one occasion, a companion complained of overly greasy food, and on another occasion, my companion paid about the same as I did for my meal and got a lot less food (that was overcooked), so needless to say he was disappointed. All that said, I think it is a fairly good restaurant - if you choose carefully you will be satisfied.

We love this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for great authentic Italian food. Try the baked cheese starter and the stuffed sea bass main. You will not be disappointed.

All my friends and family love La Partenope restaurant, we love to travel, also we love to eat. This restaurant is excellent, the taste, like we eat in Italy. I had fresh mixed seafood, followed by tiramisu. Tiramisu was very nice and how it should be, not made with sponge cake and cream! The food was excellent and the staff attentive, friendly lovely owner! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in an authentic Italian meal in cozy surroundings.

This popular restaurant is run by the Tersigni family and has been open for nearly three years now. It has a great buzzing atmosphere and the food is delicious and extensive.

It serves superb fish in a wonderful and charming atmosphere. Full of flavour, superb value. Here you can find best quality and quanitity in prefect Italian style.

It is just a great place to be.

* Tiramisu - heaven *

My partner and I are always on the lookout for good, consistent restaurants and we have come to the conclusion that this is the best Italian in Edinburgh. We first walked in on the off chance of a table and were welcomed warmly by the staff, this friendly atmosphere continued throughout the night. Both the food and the service were of an excellent standard and have been everytime we have returned since. Authentic Italian food at its best - especially the tiramisu!

This restaurant is highly recommended, and in my opinion an unforgettable experience!

Great place to eat. We eat in italians often. La Partenope is the most homely feeling of them all. Rosario the head chef always allows you to chop and change over his delicious menus, which is great seeing they have so much sea-food on offer and fillet steaks, this man brings surf and turf to a whole new meaning!

Chianti Classico is one of the best priced in Edinburgh! Try it for yourself, you won't be dissapointed...

We had dinner here after being let down by another restaurant - they did us a favour, the food was fantastic! We sat in leather sofas with a drink and complimentary olives while we looked through the menu. Friendly staff then sat with us and helped us with our choices and talked us through the wines. We had starters and mains so can't comment on the desserts, but nothing we had disappointed. Highlight was the baked cheese starter - hot, melted, sticky, smoked mozzarella in a sensational tomato and basil sauce. If you're uncertain over a starter but like cheese, choose this! The staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive and the whole evening was faultless. We would never have thought of Dalry Road to experience some of the best food we've ever tasted (that includes several holidays in Italy!), but next time we're in Edinburgh, we'll be back.

A Neopolitan gentleman from another Italian restaurant recommended La Partenope to me, which is surely a good sign. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the owner (who presides over the kitchen) and treated to an aperitif on the couch to prepare for dinner. The menu at La Partenope has an emphasis on fresh seafood and fine dining.

For starter, delicious buffalo mozzarella, in a tomato and basil sauce, which was delicate yet delicious. La Partenope is renowned for its seafood platters, so this was the outstanding choice for main. When it arrived, the mouth watered at the massive langoustines, squid, mussels, and juicy scallops. The Mediterranean preparation was simple yet perfect—lightly cooked in olive oil and garlic, allowing the quality of the seafood, particularly the scallops to shine through.

The restaurant was fairly busy for a week night, which was good for the ambience in this family run restaurant. The bill was quite expensive relative to the La Partenope’s good value lunch menu, but is comparable to other quality seafood restaurants like Creelers or Skippers. To conclude a nice restaurant, lovely staff and delicious scallops.

I have eaten here several times over the last few years and generally found it good however after a recent visit I was very disappointed. I had arranged to visit on a Friday night with a party of four and after numerous requests for the "normal" menu which is on display in front of the restaurant I was told that this menu was not available at weekends - only the "Specials" one was on.

Needless to say the "Specials" menu had most items at twice the price of the normal one and I found this frustrating. In the past I have been able to mix and match from the specials and the normal one but this time I was left feeling duped. I will not be returning again.
