I ate here on Friday in a large group and had a good meal. The service was really friendly and they weren't bothered that we'd booked for 10 but only turned up with 8 people. We had a big table upstairs where it was busy and there was a good buzz about the place.
We ate off a set menu - 3 courses for £23 which was decent value (the mains on the set menu were also on the a la carte at about £17 each). I can't remember what I had for starter - how annoying. I'm sure it was nice. I had venison for my main which was really tender and sticky toffee pudding for dessert (always good).
We ended up spending over £50 each after tip, but you could get away with spending a lot less if you don't order a round of drinks when you arrive followed by a bottle of wine each...

I went to Maison Bleue for a dinner with work knowing it had an ok reputation, but came away having had one of the best meals I have ever had in Edinburgh. The scallop starter was good, tasty, nothing to bowl me over but thoroughly enjoyable. The jewel in the crown came with the "chef's special" which was a cous cous and meat fest, presented on 3 plates, one with cous cous and vegetables, one with some dip in spicy sauce and one which was a platter of meat, "north African style"- sausage, chicken and a big chunk of lamb. For once in my life I would say there was nothing I could fault about this dish, the taste was fantastic and portion size floored me, maybe the first time I could ever say that! I can't remember now the cost but I still came away with change for a twenty on my maincourse, which for what I got was fantastic.
Everyone in the group loved their meals, and many long time Edinburgh residents said it was one of best they had had in the city. Definitely one to go back to.

I come to Maison Bleue a fair bit - the food is always great. The venison medallions are wonderful and the brochettes are also pretty good. Perhaps the waitresses don't explain any more, but on my first visit (which was a while ago) they explained that "les bouchees" are smaller dishes meant to be combined with something else or just out for sharing, and "les bouchees doubles" are the real, full size meals. At any rate, a memorable place, really good food, and a decent wine list.

I love Maison Bleu as it never fails to deliver really tasty food. The fixed menus are really good value, I remember some of the wines being well worth the price too.
It's quite cosy inside which can be off-putting but I will be going back!

This place has improved so much between my first visit a few years ago to my most recent. The food was terrible and overpriced the first time, but a couple weeks ago I had one of the best lunches ever. Big up Maison Bleue

Really tasty and well presented (if slightly pricey) food! Good atmosphere! Waitresses could maybe wait with cleaning the tables with spray and cloth right next to you - at least until you've finished eating...even if you are the last guest to leave the restaurant.
