Monsoon is a gem of an Indian takeaway which offers some unusual dishes tucked away among the usual fare. Offerings such as the very special Tandoori Murgh Mossalam (tandoor chicken cooked on the bone and served in a minced lamb mossala sauce with fresh herbs and spices) lift this takeaway above the many 'samey' Indian takeaways in the area. As the menu says "If you haven't tried this yet, do yourself a favour now"!

I'm quite surprised to see that someone has had such a bad experience with Monsoon as every single time we've went there for food (or ordered by telephone), the staff have always been very friendly and polite.
It's a small place that's nestled amongst several other takeaways in Granton, but with it being the only Indian one (that we know of) we decided to give it a go. Once the initial amusement of the 'engrish' menu had worn off, we were pleased to see that it wasn't your usual tired selection of korma, bhuna, rogan josh and vindaloos. Monsoon has a large selection of speciality dishes which range from the relatively mild (but incredibly tasty) Green Herb one to the seriously firey South Indian Garlic Chilli one. Versatility is provided by the fact that you can choose to have each dish with chicken, lamb, prawn or vegetable. They're all cooked from fresh and the portions are pleasingly large, too. Special mention has to go to the Tandoori Murgh Mossalam dish as it is simply incredible. You get large chunks of beautifully tasty tandoori chicken (still on the bone) dunked in a herby minced lamb 'mosalla' sauce... It's almost criminally delicious.
Home delivery is quick, their prices are generally average for an Indian takeaway and their food is excellent. They also have a full range of starters, snacks and naan breads.
Pretty damn good.

I called this takeaway and was informed my meal would take 30 mins to be delivered. 45mins later the shop called me to confirm my card details even though I had asked them to repeat them to me. As it was now 10.35 in the evening I asked that my order be cancelled as I was informed that they hadn't started cooking it yet. Whoever I was speaking to at the time then called me a stupid Bl***y Cow & hung the phone up. After calling them back and saying that was not good business practice they hung up on me again. Funny perhaps, but I was already an existing customer! Needless to say 'Monsoon' will lose all of my business and any of my contact's business.
