Ordered from here last night and opted to go collect it as I wanted to see what it was like inside. The person on the phone said the food would take 15 minutes to be prepared, and right enough when I arrived 15 minutes later it was ready and waiting. There were 5 other customers there waiting for food they had ordered, which is a good sign. The place was fresh, bright and clean and the server very friendly. The food was very tasty, but my black bean sauce wasn't as strong as I'm used too. My first impressions of this place are excellent and I'll definitely order from here again.

Ordered for the first time in about two years from here, when they gave my husband terrible food poisoning (hoped things might have improved by now). I was disappointed, as while the food didn't give me poisoning this time, it was over cooked and not pleasant. There's much better Chinese takeaways along the road, such as Food For U or Jimmy's Good Food.

My husband and I ordered takeaway from new Xian last night and it took 1 hr and 5 mins for delivery. He has been violently sick all night as a result of food poisoning. I suspect our food sat waiting for quite some time prior to delivery, and this has been the source of the food poisoning. We have used this takeaway once or twice before but will not be using it again.

Drive past this take away from time to time and always think it looks like a lovely restaurant. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken in batter and fried rice (£6.10). Was told to collect in 15 minutess and it was ready for me picking it up.

Food -

Sauce had little taste and to be honest I think it had been watered down, Chicken in batter was very greasy and rice was poor when compared with other places.

Sadly the lovely looking restaurant doesnÂ’t serve lovely tasty food. Waste of £6.10. Search is on for another Chinese...

Very nice takeaway, ideal for picking up a meal after a hard day's work. The duck rolls are superb. My mouth is watering even as I type.

Have tried out a few Chinese takeaways in the area and this is by far the best. Very professional on the phone, they did warn that there would be up to an hour to wait on delivery which is understandable as it is a saturday night. It arrived in good time, piping hot and tasted very fresh. Would recommend and will go back. For the person that said they got food poisoning... did you get tested? If not it's unfair to assume you got it here!

After the demise of the Rice Bowl in Morningside Road, I have used the New Xian a few times, but no more. The standard of food has gone down a lot recently and portions were getting smaller and the amount of sauce in the meals was miserly. Even asking for extra sauce made no difference and the dreaded monosodium glutamate was very evident in the taste. A search is now on to find somewhere close to the sadly missed Rice Bowl.
