They do a really cheap set menu. The steak is good and worth paying the couple of quid extra for. Starter and desserts are nothing special. Restaurant is very hard to find - up an alley off one of the lanes off Rose Street.
As it's a cheap and cheerful kind of place, you book a table for a predefined time block and need to vacate the table by a certain time. Not a problem, so long as you know.

Edit: Additional to below Review
Recently arranged large group dinner here and it's also under new management since my last review.
This place does the basics tremendously well and having been in a couple of times recently I can say with absolute certainty that it's well worth a visit. Perfect pre-night out grub.
Double burgers might be a good idea though as the regular burger is a bit small. Also the dime bar dessert is top notch and has to be tried.

Been here twice for work nights out. BYOB so very handy. Tiny place mind you. I doubt it could fit more than 22 people. good steaks, good burgers,
It's down an alley behind George St. so it does look ropey from the outside but it is a charming wee spot with lots of funky titanic etc memorabilia on the walls.
Entertaining place with good humoured staff. They've seen it all so you can be a bit rowdy if the place is empty.
Like it, will go again.

I totally agree with Andy's review above, the set menu is really good value but the restaurant is very small so you would need to book in advance. It is also up a very narrow spirally type staircase which is not ideal for those not fully mobile or fully sober!
I enjoyed the food and it was certainly good value, the menu is not very varied - just a few dishes, but for about £15 per head for 2 courses who is complaining & surely everyone likes steak. Although be warned, unlike most places who seem to find judging when a steak is cooked difficult, my boyfriend asked for his rare and it was so rare it was almost still a cow - it is the first time I have known him order rare and send it back to be cooked for longer!
