We visited Nobles bar last night after an afternoon visit to the pictures. A really beautiful old bar, the cornice is lovely, and the mixed old wooden tables and candles on the table are wholly appropriate. We both fancied a burger, although we were tempted by the sound of the beef Wellington and fish and chips.

A small portion of nachos to share proved more than ample, and very tasty in the usual pub style of nachos. The house red merlot was under £14 and very tasty, requiring another bottle to be ordered

The burger comes with delicious old fashioned chips, lovely dipped in mayo, home made coleslaw and the lettuce had a really nice dressing. On the burger is a tasty burger relish, with a wee bit of a kick, whilst one topping is included in the price, any additional ones are charged at 60p a go. From memory, the choices were bacon, mushrooms, mozzarella, gruyère, blue cheese but I think I've missed out a couple. One burger was ordered with bacon and mozzarella, whilst the onion jam which is not an option but comes with the steak, was no problem to have on the other one, along with mozzarella. Absolutely delicious, nicely cooked and just what we wanted.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and made us extremely welcome. Overall cost was under £50 for the two bottles of wine, two burgers, with extra toppings and our shared nachos. We will be back, and would thoroughly recommend this classic old pub, and can't understand why it Might be back to have the burgers again was so quiet, post Christmas lack of money?

Visited Nobles on Saturday 23 April 2011 for an all day breakfast after previously really enjoying the burgers. We were 15 minutes before they stop serving this when we ordered, and the food arrived within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, apart from the eggs, which were really nice, everything seemed to have been cooked in advance and had gone hard under the lights, the beans were congealed and more like cement, and the mushrooms looked like tinned. Very disappointing.

The manager was apologetic, and we were only charged for one breakfast. Might be back to have the burgers again but we will not be back for the breakfast.

I love spending time at Nobles. I only agree with the first half of the previous review, the food is excellent and the building is beautiful. My family often do brunch there and must say that I have never had a single complaint. The service and food is always perfect.

I highly recommend Nobles for eating as well as drinking as they have a superb selection of Scottish draughts and a more than decent wine list.

Good old-fashioned all day breakfast with the newspapers and mags on hand. Some tables are a bit wobbly and lighting's not good (when you get to my age) so take your specs if you want to read. Really interesting interior decor and staff are friendly.

I've never not enjoyed a visit to Nobles and there have been many. The food is always excellent as is the service and what's not to like about the look of the bar? Wish they had outdoor seating, then this really would truly be the most heavenly place to while away the hours.
