Spectacular location with views of the Castle to the south and Fife to the north. However, lacks character and feels a little sterile. Food is good but comes at a price. Also, our quiet dinner was slightly disrupted by noise coming from a group in the bar area.

Have to agree with the previous reviewer on many points.
The food is great, but at a price. But with the views that he has mentioned, I think this is how they can get away with the slightly inflated prices.
The doormen can be a tad over zealous at times when all you want is a drink and a quick snack from the bar, but apart from that, I really like the place.

Definitely going back!
Great food, good service. A bit pricey, but was expecting that. Extensive drinks menu, but not many non-alcoholic drinks (this becomes an issue when pregnant!). Try sister restaurant - Roti - round the corner for good Indian food without the price tag.

I love this place. The restaurant is indeed a bit expensive, but the bar menu is also very tasty and better value. Well worth a try if you want something less formal, cheaper and "less of a night out".

I have been a few times and have actually written to complain about the slow service. I did not even get a reply , but I may now go back to find out if it has imrpoved to an acceptable level. Shame as the food was always quite good.

I've returned many Sunday afternoons to Oloroso for a great lunch. Normally their main cost around £23 each but on Sunday, you can enjoy a three course plus wine for £20. The menu is a reduced selection of the previous week - but it ain't no bubble'n'squeak! The service is attentative and bar staff are enthused about their cocktails.
The food is fantastic and for the price and view, superb, I highly recommend them. Also, their bread is famous. I've only ever tasted bread at two other restaurants as good. Another in Edinburgh (I've forgotten the name) and a bistro/bar in Perth, West Australia.
