I ordered a Lemon Chicken and boiled rice from here last night. It was fine. Pretty tasty and loads of chicken but otherwise unremarkable.

I phoned to order and went to collect it. It was a Saturday night and there was not a person in the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant was pretty messy with random files and paperwork cluttering up the bar area where I paid.

Whatever - it didn't affect me - the food was fine, but not a great place to take someone for a meal if you want to impress them!

We first decided to visit the Panda Inn a couple of weeks ago after seeing Kung Fu Panda at the cinema, as my friend is slightly panda daft! So the choice was more about the name than the food. However I'm glad we did go as the food is superb! The Beggars Chicken and Mango Chicken come highly recommended, as do the satay skewers.

We'd gone off Chinese food a bit recently as a lot of Chinese restaurants can be a bit 'samey' - all the same dishes in the same brightly coloured sauces - but the Panda Inn restored our faith immensely. You wouldn't go there for the decor - it's clean but basic - but the staff are friendly and some of the dishes are quite unique.

The boy was really taken by the gorgeously subtle satay sauce and joked that he could have eaten an entire jar. Come to think of it I'm not so sure it was a joke - I've seen the way he eats! ;)
