Restaurant Mark Greenaway at No 12 Picardy Place, 12 Picardy Place, EH1 3JT, Edinburgh
Took advantage of the £20 'Market Menu' at Mark Greenaway and its possibly one of the best deals in Edinburgh.
The restaurant itself if very nice, good lighting, nice background music etc. Bread arrived first - still warm with a nice crust. Some butter and sea salt already on the table. Good start.
Without listing everything we had, I can say that it was across the board excellent. Everything was cooked impeccably, and dishes were interesting without being over complicated with all flavours making sense together. Also good was that everything felt quite light - no heavy butter or cream sauces. So much so that we ordered a cheese cource, one of the best I've had ever.
The staff too were excellent - I've found Hawke and Hunter staff to be a bit snooty in the past, but not so here. Very sweet and friendly.
Only question - why was it near to empty on a Friday evening?
