Ricebox, 28 Easter Rd, EH7 5RG, Edinburgh
First night in a new flat ina new part of town - had to try the nearest takeaway. It's a 2 minute walk!
The Ricebox looks a bit shabby when it's closed but it's actually slightly odd as you walk in as it's got a neon/post-90s modern look to it.
Quick preparation on the food, reasonable prices and a menu that has pictures of all the dishes (accurate - no employment of professional food photgraphers here).
We had a mixed fried appetisers - prawns, wontons (worst bit) ribs and spring rolls along with duck rolls which were ace. All very good. Then we had a sweet chili beef and a Ho Fun both of which were well tasty. No desserts tried but they do supply chopsticks as standard and fortune cookies (no lottery numbers).
They also do a funny little token for every tenner spent. With 4 you get a ricebox baseball cap, with 8 you get a bag and with 20 or so you get a hoodie...
Anyway, good food, quick, friendly service in the store - will definitely be going again. We spent about £21 on two of us with quite a lot of food (it had been a very long day) but you could easily get a main each for about £12. Not the cheapest but worth it.
