Had an after work feed here with some pals a few weeks ago and it didn't do much for us really. Pub grub, friendly staff, slightly pricey for what it is. Wouldn't fuss about going back and would probably try and go to the Cambridge Bar instead to be honest.

Met pals who work in the west end a few times for a quick lunch here. Good food but the kitchen and staff should be better organised for the lunchtime rush. Once we were served our food after a 40min wait and had to wolf it down in order for pals to back at work on time.
The soup here is generally good, tastes fresh and comes with nice crunchy bread. The veggie burger with its special sauce is fab also, the chutney on it really makes it stand out from other usual drab veggie burgers. Best veggie burger in Edin for me.
Good place to go if you are not in a rush. Staff could be more attentive, but the food is of a good quality. I will return.

Decent food, fast service. Perhaps the best feature is the location - it's impossible to miss even for people who tend to get a bit lost.

I had lunch at Ryans Bar and was really not very impressed. I ordered soup of the day which was Lentil, Cumin and Coriander and it was really really gross, tasted like what I would imagine lukewarm cat's vomit to to be like... with copped chives on the top. The sandwich I ordered was Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil - not exactly complicated but despite asking to have this with NO mayo - when it arrived it was swimming in the stuff. The sandwiches were inedible as the bread was unbelievably soggy and when I checked inside there was the tiniest amount of limp salad (no basil in sight) and a really feeble looking bit of tomato. The service wasn't up to scratch, when I arrived I had a menu thrust in my face before I had a chance to take my jacket off and when I tried to get the attention to pay the bill I was left waiting for a while and I didn't get a chance to complain about the food as our waitress scuttled off.
