For an Italian restaurant this is ok. The prices are reasonable and they do a pre-theatre dinner which is good value but I wouldn't overly recommend this to anyone when there are better Italians on offer further into town. It gets alot of local trade so people obviously like it and keep going but if you are looking for a good Italian I would try La Favourita, Valvona & Crolla or Vittorias further into town.

Review 1 - It's been a while since I was there but I thought the Calzone was brilliant - one of the very best in town. And truly tremendous service.

Review 2 - Came here last week for the first time in years with sister. I had Avocado San Marco followed by Calzone; she had Basil/Mozarella/Tomato thing and Pasta dish.

We had a bottle of sparkling water and bottle of Bardolino (£16.95).

My starter very good - a mix of avocado, prawns, smoked salmon, Marie Rose & salad. Sister very happy with both her dishes.

Calzone was not as good as I remembered, not as packed out as I remember and with the watery insides thing going on. What causes that? Is it off-season/poor quality tomatoes full of water? It was tasty otherwise but not the seminal calzone of yore.

I ordered black coffee. I got filter coffee. This is wrong. I would expect an Italian restaurant to know the difference between black coffee and filter coffee. I managed to explain it to the waiter eventually and got, more or less, what I wanted.

We had 2 coffees each and the total bill was £57.

All in all, quite good but I'm not as pumped about the place as I once was.

Best pizza and bruschetta I'd had in a long time. And the portion sizes were good for my deceptively small stomach.
