Shamoli, 105 High Street, EH1 1SG, Edinburgh

Competent Indian cooking in well-appointed sophisticated surroundings. The service, headed by the restaurateur, Iftekhar, is to a very high standard. The peshwari naan was particularly good, the best example I have had in Edinburgh.

There were a couple of minor areas for imrovement. The dishes were not overly generous, but were not miserly; and the restaurant was a little quiet, although we did eat midweek, and I hear it is advisable to book for the weekends.

All in all a good restaurant, worth a visit.

Ciao

Shamoli, 105 High Street, EH1 1SG, Edinburgh

I've been to Shamoli three times in the last two months and will be back again soon. What a grand idea, thai and Indian food within the one restaurant, great for a group who cannot chose which they prefer or to mix your courses.

I went with a group of 5, we shared indian veg pakora and thai spring rolls for starters. Plentiful starters and very tasty. For my main course I had thai chicken with veg, garlic, oyster sauce. Just the right hint of chilli in it and not too oily or salty like Thais I have had before. One pal had thai with chicken and cashew nuts which she loved and the others had a mix of karahi, tikka masala and hot hot curry. All loved their mains.

The staff here are very friendly, but not too in your face. They do not rush you at all, we were there on a Friday night, went in at half seven and left about eleven. Busy place and a great location right on the Royal Mile.

I love Shamoli and will be heading back again soon.

I went to Shamli quite recently. The food was great but not over priced. The staff were very friendly but not in your face all the time. I went with my colleagues and they loved it. I will definitly be going back soon.

I went to Shamoli a couple of days ago. The atmosphere was very nice. It has been recently refurbished. The service was very speedy and the food was mouthwatering but not overpriced at all. I will be definitely be going back very soon.

I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Who are these people trying to kid? This place is appaling! The food is thrown together. My plate smelled of cigarette smoke for goodness sake!
