Siam Thani, 14 Broughton Street, EH1 3RH, Edinburgh
We were on our way to the omni and fancied some grub prior to the movies (Edinburghmovies.com anyone?) but due to the 'fun' going on at High School Musical in the Playhouse and the hordes of kids everywhere we were forced to look a bit further afield (in the wind and rain) than Frankie and Bennies. There was even a queue into the Chinese Buffet spot.
Long story short we went to this Thai joint on Broughton. Only place not busy in the area. Strolled in, immediately seated in what did look quite old fashioned seating. Reasonably similar to Buffalo Grill in look and feel (but Thai).
Straight off, very polite, helpful service. We ordered a battered Prawn and chicken spring rolls with sweet chili sauce platter which was very tasty and then a chicken paenang and a king prawn dish which were both very good. Service was prompt, unobtrusive and friendly.
Tiny bit overpriced maybe but the service made up for it and that we were in plenty of time for the flicks (Juno). Place picked up quite a few customers while we were there too.
Would happily go again pre-movies. Starters, drinks, mains and 2 portions of rice was £43. I must stress, they were incredibly mannerly, without being creepy. I was looking around for who they were talking to when they said "Have a nice evening Sir". My other half tells me they were talking to me.
High School Musical. Bah, humbug.
