After a few drinks on Saturday evening in Stockbridge, 4 of us turned up at Songkran Two with no advance booking. We were told that there would be a table in 1/2 hour so to come back then. We offered to give our names to book the table but were told by the head waitress that she would remember our faces. So we nipped across to the Baillie Bar to fill the 30 minutes.
When we returned to the restaurant we were asked, by the head waitress again, if we had a reservation. We explained that we had been in just half an hour earlier and after 5 seconds of a blank expression from the waitress the penny dropped and she did, thankfully, recognise us.
The room had quite a nice ambience and despite being full it was not too noisy. The menu had a good range of interesting looking dishes. For starter I had a pancake thing which contained prawns, vegetables, pork and some nuts. While it was tasty, it did feel a bit like the previous night's leftovers wrapped in a pancake. For main I had a chicken curry dish which was nice and spicey, sort of zingy, but without being too hot.
Service was average - it seemed like the staff and kitchen were a bit stretched as my table of 4 did not all receive their dishes at the same time, there was a gap of a couple of minutes for both courses. They also just put down the dishes without explaining what they were and we had to work out for ourselves who had ordered what.
The meal was a very reasonably priced at £20 per head for 2 courses, wine and tea/coffee. One thing disappointed me a little - when other diners were given their bills they were accompanied by mints - ours wasn't.
So, overall the food was very good but it was let down a little by the service.

With about 4 months in Thailand between us, me and the missus reckon we know a bit about the gnosh, and here is as good a place to have some Thai feeding as we have found west of the Andaman sea.
We have been here when it was busy and also been the only paying customers (European championship final was on - poor forward planning on my behalf). Food was equally good on both occasions, service not really top drawer but it was friendly.
A pleasant wee space, with plenty of carved wood that fits the theme and exposed stone walls that keep you in Edinburgh.
The menu brought back fine memories and the pad thai and king prawn curry were up to the task, jasmine tea is a must.
