The St Johns Curry Club is a haven of calm on an otherwise busy street. A reasonably priced menu and superbly made food makes the St Johns Curry Club well worth a visit.

I like my Curry, and I've eaten at St John's Curry Club about half-a-dozen times. I've also had takeaway from here too.

I like my curries fairly hot, usually going for the lamb or chicken madras, and on each occasion I've been very impressed by what's served here.

I'd recommend a visit - it's small, and fairly basic decor, but you're going for the food, aren't you? Service is attentive, too.

If there's one criticism, it's that because it's also a popular takeaway, and it's not a big place, the takeaway customers can become a little bit intrusive.

Had a takeaway 4 times in the last three months, and been very satisfied on each occasion. Would highly recommend it.

First visited when I moved up here to work at the airport. That was three years ago and I still go back now even though I live about 15 miles away. In my opinion it's the best in the area, and one of the best I've ever been to (and I've lived in Luton!).

The menu is excellent and the only time I was disappointed was in myself for ordering two dishes that were similar. We probably get a takeaway from St Johns about twice a month and have got a bit boring in our selection but it works for us. Kanpuri Karahi Lamb, Royal Chitawan Chicken Korma, Sabzi Biryani, Pilau Rice, Plain Naan. My stomach is starting to rumble...!

I took Richelle out for an impromptu Indian meal tonight, and after Eastern Pavilion's average / reasonable curry, I opted for the highly recommended St Johns Curry Club, Corstorphine, Edinburgh. What a great choice it turned out to be!

We were seated at a nice clean table by an immaculate waiter who took our drinks orders, 1 diet coke and a large bottle of Cobra. We then had 4 popodums and a selection of pickles / sides, which consisted of chilli pickle, Mango Chutney, Onion Salad and Raita. Delicious.

After some consultation with the pleasant waiter, we opted for a chicken Bhuna and a north Indian chilli garlic garlic chicken, both served with pillau rice and a peshwari nann.

When they came out - perfectly timed, the smell was amazing. The waiter then swirled the warm plates around his clean tea towel and placed them on the table. I was really impressed! The rice was perfect. Long, elongated, soft dry grains, perfectly spiced with just a hint of cardamom. Our curries were great too, mine especially with the fresh chillies and large slices of fresh garlic peering through the delicious curry sauce.

I don't know what the best part was - talking curry with the welcoming manager who explained a thing or two to me (nothing practical, but still interesting), or the bill of only 35 quid.

We were so full after all the food that we couldn't finish our meals. To polish things off, the staff neatly packed away all our remaining food into discrete containers for us to take home and finish later. What more can you ask for?

If you happen to be in or around Edinburgh, this is the place to eat out. St John's Curry Club offers the best customer service I have received to date!

I discovered St Johns when I first moved to Edinburgh and my boyfriend and I still frequent it regularly after 4 years. We often travel the length of the city just to taste their delicious curry. We have tried other places, just for variety but nothing quite hits the mark like St Johns.

We decided to try this restaurant after a 10 mile walk and were starving. We got a table in the aisle. Firstly the menu was huge and to actually read it would take up a substantial amount of time, however the waitress showed little patience and was eager to get the order in. We ordered chicken and prawn pakora as starters which were dry and a bit bland. The waiters were overly keen to whip away the plates when we had barely finished. The young waitress paced up and down the restaurant much more than it was necessary and we felt like we were being watched the whole time. The main dishes of chicken jalfrezi and chicken korma were quite tasty but again the atmosphere created by the over bearing waiters made the experience unpleasant. We felt rushed we didn't even get to examine the bill properly when the manager hurried over and asked if everything was ok. The bill was very pricey at 45 pounds for two people and we only had one soft drink. It seemed like a family run business, members of which appeared tired and bored and were seeing their customers as numbers rather than people.

Won't beat this place for food. Go and eat there a lot and the service is brilliant. Everything is timed perfectly never have felt rushed before. The Manager is a very nice gentleman that takes time to talk to his customers.

The standard of food is excellent. You must try this out. Lunch service is very cheap at £7.50.

Went last Friday night having heard how good its takeaways were. The food was fine. Not the best Indian food I've eaten but acceptable. I was shocked at the poor service we had, particularly since so many reviewers have raved about the service. After our main course we were ignored, not offered anything, not a drink, coffee or desert. We paid and got no change. Had to go and ask for it. Left a very small tip and will not go back.

It was a wet Friday night and was recommended the curry club by a colleague who also lives locally.

Encouraged by the positive reviews and the brisk takeout trade passing our table to what appeared to be regulars. I ventured into the chicken house specials and my companion elected for herb lamb. Have to feel let down by the recommendation, unlikely to visit again pretty run of the mill, maybe the food gets better served from foil trays. Service was friendly, attentive.
