According to Richard Herring, this is the oldest and best baked potato shop in the world. Not sure about oldest, but the latter is certainly true.

Massively carborific portions (a medium is one and a half potatoes) of perfectly-cooked fluffy spuds with vesuvius-like toppings. All served, as one would expect, with a plastic fork and serviette in a polystyrene container and a big brown bag.

The staff are friendly, and there are seats at the window and a counter so you can sit in and read the complimentary magazines and papers as you eat and watch the world go by.

The Tempting Tattie does what it says on the tin, and does it well. If you're looking to eat here, you're not looking for haute-quisine, and you won;t be getting it.

The only downside is that they haven't created the 'Richard Herring' potato yet, and that is quite the travesty!

Went here for the first time the other week. I was warned by a friend that the size names are deceptive. A regular is one and a half potatoes, a medium is two. I was also encouraged by a friend to have haggis, baked beans and cheese as my toppings. Although I couldn't finish it, it was a really tasty combination. Some of the toppings are not for the health conscious but you can pick and choose your toppings anyway, so you can always be a bit healthier than me. There are also specials each day which might tempt you. The potatoes themselves are fluffy and well cooked.

The place is basic but does the job well.

If you're anywhere around Jeffrey Street and fancy a filling, tasty, value for money baked tattie, this is your place.

You'll get decent sized potatoes (I've never gone bigger than a medium, it's plenty big) loaded with toppings from a huge range of hot and cold.

There's even a couple of stools to take the weight off your feet if you're having a busy day.

I reckon the medium with haggis is the pick of the bunch, the haggis having just the right amount of neeps through it!

Thoroughly recommended.

My boyfriend and I have often been for a 'hangover' feed and boy does it hit the spot! healthy, delish, great toppings, ALWAYS go for cheese and beans! Highly recommended.

On a rainy and cold day you just can't beat a good baked potato. Go!

As an American tourist, we found this great place for food. We enjoyed the coronado chicken topping with cheese. We ate here 2 nights. Great Place, simple food. Warm!
