I absolutely love this restaurant! Where do I start? I only discovered the Thai Orchid last month and already we've eaten there four times. The decor is subtle and the lighting is low, but not so low that you can't read the menu (as I've found in some places!). The menu itself is amazing, with dishes like Tiger Cry sirloin (wow, the flavours!), gorgeous soups, delectable fishcakes and Panang curries which will bring tears to your eyes - and I'm not just talking about the chillies. ;) The mix of spices and flavours are quite unlike anything I've ever experienced before and always leave me hungry for more, in a metaphorical sense! Every time I've eaten at the Thai Orchid I've come away with a warm, satisfied glow and a huge smile on my face.
A special mention goes to the staff at the Thai Orchid, as they're lovely. They're knowledgeable about the dishes, very conscientious about service and they always have a smile for you. :)

In my opinion one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh. The staff are friendly and attentive but not in any way over the top. The food is always excellent and I would consider it to be quiet complex (however I am no chef). The menu is also impressive in terms of selection. Even the Thai wine is good (a shiraz!).
For Value for money I am not sure that you can beat this place

First time at Thai Orchid last night and it won't be our last. In one word - 'yum!'
The staff are lovely - always on hand when you need them, but not lurking over your shoulder. It is very reasonably priced and the service is very quick.
The menu is great - as the veggie of the party, I was impressed with the selection I had - so much nicer than just one token veggie dish. But the carnivores among us had trouble trying to decide - too many lovely options to choose from!
One of our party had been to Thailand before and said that the food was the best she'd had since coming home.
All together, a great night out - thank you Thai Orchid :)

In terms of good food, fantastic service and value for money this restaurant is superb! As with most thai restaurants the menu is lengthy but not so much that you don't know where to start, the staff are very attentive but not in your face, finally the food tastes amazing and is very authentic.
In terms of cost, a meal for 2 with starters and mains and a bottle of good wine costs between £50-£60. Not bad at all!
