I looked at The Scotsman last week and noticed The Affair had a bad review, however I decided to still go with my booking on Saturday. I thought the fine dining downstairs was almost as good as Martin Wishart, try the Buccleuch beef fillet - it's to die for. Service was very good - Italian chap was very friendly.

My Husband and I visited the Affair to celebrate my Birthday on a long weekend visit to Edinburgh on the 21st of November 2008. It was possibly the best meal I've ever had, anywhere. Albeit a quiet night (there was snow forecast ) the service was great the waiters friendly and helpful. The restaurant is beautifully presented and the bar upstairs lively and also beautifully designed.
I had the Salmon with linguine which was in a delicious bisque of prawns and langoustines. My husband had slow roast belly pork with savoy cabbage. We both had desserts which were equally delicious. I thought the pricing was very reasonable and would wholeheartedly recommend The Affair to anyone.
