The Dome, 14 George Street, EH2 2PF, Edinburgh

The Dome - a bar I am very fond of as a signature Edinburgh establishment. I've not eaten there before so yesterdays evening nosh up was eagerly awaited.

Popped in to the Rose ST, back garden eaterie bit and was very pleased with the layout, service and grub. We didn't really over do the menu too much and it was very basic fare so I'm reluctant to give it too high a mark. Also, it was very expensive for what it was so that's another reason to avoid marking too highly.

We had nachos to share to start which were ace. Very well presented and plenty to chew on. We then had a chicken and a "dome" burger. Both were excellent. Only quibble was the buns seemed to fall apart quite easily. Very tasty, fresh ingredients and plenty of chips with fresh coleslaw on the side. Having formerly worked in an establishment where I made a lot of coleslaw (trust me - I've made more coleslaw than anyone you know) this stuff was lovely.

No desserts this time round as we were in a rush to go see Ed Byrne but the menu for these looked fine and I'm sure had we been able to we would have enjoyed them.

All in all, very nice. Shame it will be closed out back soon due to the weather but it was nice in the sunshine. I must make a point of going back next summer on a more regular basis.

This resturant and bar is in a great location and the building is worth the visit alone. The food is also great although beware that the portions are huge so almost take the enjoyment out of the meal as you are left so full. Only go for 2 courses if you are really hungry as most struggle to finish one.
