This place is close to my work but the experience I had trying to get a drink the other night led me to believe that it's not near as convenient as its location. It took ages to get drinks. Not because the bar was crowded and not because of lack of staff - because none of the staff were capable of making a drink!
The first attempt fell to the wayside when the barman disappeared and never passed on the order to someone else. When I came to my senses that the guy had completely abandoned me I re-ordered my drink, a bramble berry number, from someone behind the bar who did not feel confident enough to make it (one of only a few cocktails on the menu) only to pass it on to someone else.
I finally did get my drink. It was ok, not worth the wait though.
I ordered food off their bar snacks menu. Whitebait. Nicely presented but served with a small dish of coarse salt which was too crunchy when stuck on the little fish and would have been much better served with finer sea salt.
I also had lunch there the other day. They have these open faced sandwiches, hard to eat but ok. I had the tuna which I thought would have been just seared on the outside and raw in the middle and was disappointed when it arrived cooked all the way through.
An ok place for a drink if you are going to order something easy to pour, wine or beer only! Bar snacks are good, but you might want to rethink lunch.

If you can be bothered to hike down to Leith harbour then the Granary is definitely worth visiting for dinner. It is has a very relaxing, intimate atmosphere with very comfortable seats. The food is good with generous portions and the prices are reasonable - approximately £10 a main course. The beef was great! Definitely worth a visit.

I've been to the Granary for lunch. The ambiance is great, and service was quick. My food was pretty good, however, one of my companions said each and every one of her mussels were "crunchy". Eww.

I went a week ago with a friend for lunch. We sat in the window. She ordered the haggis, neeps and tatties from the starters and I had the aubergine cous cous. The HNT came stylishly served in a tower and looked a small portion but my friend couldn't finish it and we decided the tower was deceptive. My cous cous came without its almonds and it needed either more veg or some more seasonings as it was just ok. I liked the service as they were attentive but left us in peace otherwise.
Previously when I've been I've had brunch with large portions of tasty food so reckon this place is generally good.
