I have been here for Friday drinks for work and it is a brilliant bar. Offering something different from the usual George Street night after work. It is a nice wine bar as well as a good restaurant as well. A crowd of us went from work and on a Friday evening they send round plates of nibbles - which are a brilliant added bonus - but do leave you hungry for more.

The manager who was on at the time is also very good - he makes a conscious effort to say hi to all the tables in and have a chat with you - not interupting you but just again a nice added touch.

I have yet to eat here but friend from work have been here for lunch and all have said that it is very good.

The drinks arent cheap but it is a nice bar with nice surroundings and a great place to drop in on your way home from work

I dined at Magnum in a group of 7 the weekend before Christmas. While the room is pleasant, I flet that it was missing something. I think my problem is that it feels a bit sterile and does not have much in the way of character. Apart from being able to look out onto the New Town streets it felt that it could be anywhere.

The food was reasonable, but I think the restaurant took advantage of the Christmas season as they charged £25 for 3 courses on their Christmas menu when I reckon it should have been no more like £20 per head for what was offered. I had chicken liver parfait to start, followed by cod, with fudge cake to finish off. All had been competently cooked but were not inspiring. I also felt that portions were on the small side with no suggestions from the table staff regarding side orders (which you might also expect to be included under the £25 set menu).

Overall, I very much doubt I will return unless I am in the area and need a restaurant at which to have a meal which will fade into memory.

A lovely bar that appears trapped by time as the interior never alters. Regrets that the bar prices have though! This has to be the dearest bar in town with a bottle of Magners (small size) hitting the best part of £5! I realise that this is a privately owned establishment but this type of over pricing on drinks sends out the "stay at home" signals to many.

I have eaten here a couple of times and the food is no nonsense material. Fish and chips, etc. It is fine but nothing more than average. A real favourite with the local lawyers that have offices in this vicinity. Though lets face it, only someone with that type of earnings can afford to frequent here regularly. One to avoid, unless you win the lottery first.

Been twice in the last month. Once for Dinner and once for drinks. Food was good and atmosphere just right. It's a proper bar, no gimmicks, just tasteful decoration with a clientele that can't be bothered with being seen in the right places. We're going back for lunch soon.
