Just had takeaway from here, most of the meal was lovely but I had deep fried shredded chilli beef and there was barely any sauce! Would return but would have something different from their huge menu.

First experience of the Ming Palace - in one word ironically minging! Ordered a chicken chow mein and it arrived with pork. I called to advise and was told this is always the case when you order chicken chow mien or chicken fried rice. This has never happened to me before from a Chinese and it could not be eaten. The chicken in the lemon chicken was chewy, the salt chilli chips were dry with salt and pepper only and the lady on the phone was non-apologetic. I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone!

Take away is fast and food is always excellent quality!

Service is excellent and delivery is on the majority pretty quick.

I would recommend!

Polite service, delivery is quick except weekends only due to demand, the food is excellent and they are happy to remove certain things from dishes for you which is great as my husband does not like onions. Recommended.

If we had to sum up everything about The Ming Palace... (service, food quality, menu choice, friendly staff)... we would describe it as the perfect Chinese food takeaway!

Definitely the best in south Edinburgh and arguably one of the best in the city.

Tried The Ming Palace for the first time. The chicken and sweet corn and hot & sour soups were really good and the sweet and sour chicken cantonese style was not bad. The deep fried shredded beef in chilli honey was terrible. It was overcooked and had very little flavour. The meat was tough and unappetising. I will not be going back unless I just fancy a bowl of soup.

We have been using this Chinese since it had opened, over ten years now and it never disappoints.

You can't miss the place as it's set right at the cross roads of the Kaimes junction on the top of Liberton.

Whenever we want to pick the food up ourselves, parking outside is always easy as it's a residential area.

Staff always offer a very personal service; as I've been coming for a very long time, they always know who I am on the phone. Service is always friendly and polite at the counter.

As for the actual menu, they have recently (last year) added a small selection of Thai dishes. Though obviously not 100% authentic, they offer something a little different. I have tried both the red and green curries and they are both excellent.

Some of their best dishes from my personal experience: Lemon chicken, portion is very generous and the chicken is succulent.

Beef pepper black bean on chow mein, with loads of sauce and peppers are always crunchy. Other signature dishes such as their in house OK sauce (peppery sweet sauce) and their lar chee dishes (very spicy - which I like) are excellent. Another plus is the chicken they serve in their main dishes are all breast. Thumbs up for that.

The food is consistently very good and is always hot.

If there are any negative points, it will probably be their shredded beef, which lacks a little sauce and makes it very dry.

We have had a few deliveries from them, and generally speaking very quick through the weekdays. But occasionally can be a little slow on a Friday or Saturday. But they are very popular, so I can forgive.

To sum up, it is my favourite Chinese take away in Edinburgh. I have tried other takeaways near the area but non offer the food quality that the Ming Palace have offered for all these years.

Excellent choice on the menu and consistently good food. Have made this place my regular for weekend takeaways. Delivery can be a little slow at times but it is very popular so some leeway has to be given here. Overall, great.

This is now our Chinese take away of choice since we stopped using the New Xian. (See that entry for details)

Have had several dishes from the menu and yet to be disappointed (except perhaps the Kon Siu, and that was only because it wasn't as spicy as we had hoped). Very good delivery service and good value. Very highly recommended. The Sweet and Sour Cantonese and the Szechuan are especially good.
