The Regent, 2 Montrose Terrace, EH7 5DL, Edinburgh

Fantastic little pub I have been meaning to go to for a while and am certainly glad I did. Really nice decor slightly on the quirky side this place has a respectful selection of brews and wine and I am sure spirits to boot as well as a cheap and wholesome menu which of course I wanted to try out.

I opted for one of the guest ciders they had on that day, don't recall the name at this time but this probably has more to do with the fact that it was one of those high alcohol ciders than me not liking it. They also have a range of wines to choose from. My friend ordered a red and had the choice of three. I should also mention that when I ordered the cider I was asked if I would like to try it before I ordered which I thought was very nice indeed!

The menu looks almost idential as to what you might find in other pubs serving food - lasagna (meat and veggie) nachos also meat and veggie, mac and cheese, sandwiches, bagels, curry, stews, soups, etc. A nice range and also included were a few specials. I had the meat lasagna and my friend ordered the mac and cheese. We were both more than satisfied with the quality of the food and at under 6 quid a meal it was a bargain for sure. No complaints on the mac and cheese and from my seat it looked tasty.

I should mention that the Regent won some award for the best gay pub in edinburgh, I am not sure the year or what award, but this is not a music blasting night spot, at least during supper hours. A really nice relaxing feel with friendly staff and good decent food. I will definitely go back there. I wonder if they do brunch?
