I ate at the Sizzling Scot recently with a large group of people. We had a set menu. I opted for a haggis starter followed by a cheeseburger.

Considering we were a group of c35 people, I think the staff did excellently. Our glasses were never empty and the wait for food was not unreasonable given our numbers. Also because we had booked ahead, some people 'forgot' what they ordered and the staff were very good at keeping track of who had what and if something was missed off would correct it very quickly - I think they must get a lot of large parties!

The haggis starter was the same size as a haggis main and it was yummy! Because of the size of it though I didn't really have an appetite for the burger but the chips were good, and my friend that I gave my burger to really enjoyed it!

To be honest, I felt sorry for the other diners in the restuarant as we were slightly rowdy but eating there as a group was excellent fun.

Turned up here about 8 on a rainy Friday night and were pleased to get a table after just a 5 min wait. The restaurant certainly looks a lot nicer on the inside than from on Hanover St. There was live music and the staff were attentive and friendly.

We decided against starters and glad we did as the mains were huge. We all had burgers of various varieties, mine was with peppercorn sauce. I love peppercorn sauce and this was good. Chips were good, not greasy. The food was lovely and not at all supermarket style like the reviewer above commented. Maybe he went on a bad night.

All in all we absolutely loved it. We only chose it as the Thai next door couldn't seat us, but I have told everyone about it and will be heading back very soon.

I ate in this restaurant last week after seeing it advertised. I can only say that the service was very unfriendly and the food was at best average.

I would have said that they bought all their food in from a local supermarket had they not been so insistent it was all "home made" - I wouldn't own up to it if I was them!
