The Waterline, The Shore, EH6 6RD, Edinburgh
Went to the Waterline with a few work mates for lunch. A laid back place for sure. Service was efficient, not overly attentive and seemed to recognise that we needed to be in and out in under an hour.
They offer a traditional pub lunch menu that also includes sandwiches, baked potatoes and favorites like fish and chips. I chose the chicken kebab which was served with either curly fries or chips and salad. I chose curly fries as had the rest of my table. We were all served chips! They were tasty nonetheless so we all let this slide and enjoyed our meal.
The chicken kebab was decent, not dry as they can sometimes be and served with a chilli sauce (as so many things are...)
There are tables to sit at outside and you can look over the water of Leith. Watch out for the vicious seagulls though! If you give them one chip they will never leave you alone, that is for sure.

Perfectly adequate pub grub. The staff were attentive, but not overly friendly. I had a cajun chicken burger and it was tasty, but nothing special.

The Mac Cheese and Haggis Parfilos are pretty decent - top pub grub and a decent atmosphere on a Friday night.

The barman helped carry drinks outside without being asked which was really helpful. The menu was varied and average prices. I ordered fish and chips which had light tasty batter and fresh fish.
However our group (8 people) ordered in 2 lots. One group were given their meals at least 10 mins ahead of the rest which wasn't great especially as we'd ordered together AND 4 of the later dishes were salad!?!?
I was glad I hadn't picked a salad as some of my side salad was mucky as in not been near water. I should have said something but didn't.
I've eaten here several times and would go again hence the 3 stars. I think the negatives were just blips.

This is a lovely place to read your Sunday paper and have a pint and a bite. Relaxed, laid back. Friendly staff. I enjoy a cullin skink and some crusty break with my Sunday Times.
I had my first haggis here as well a few years back, just a little around medallions of chicken. Good way to break a "Yankee" in.
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh and I've lived here two years now.

Excellent place for a relaxing lunch the day after a big night out - comfy sofas, relaxed atmosphere and good quality pub food. Also has plenty of tables out the front overlooking the Shore - ideal for an after work pint on a sunny day. Get on board.
