Went to the Waterline with a few work mates for lunch. A laid back place for sure. Service was efficient, not overly attentive and seemed to recognise that we needed to be in and out in under an hour.

They offer a traditional pub lunch menu that also includes sandwiches, baked potatoes and favorites like fish and chips. I chose the chicken kebab which was served with either curly fries or chips and salad. I chose curly fries as had the rest of my table. We were all served chips! They were tasty nonetheless so we all let this slide and enjoyed our meal.

The chicken kebab was decent, not dry as they can sometimes be and served with a chilli sauce (as so many things are...)

There are tables to sit at outside and you can look over the water of Leith. Watch out for the vicious seagulls though! If you give them one chip they will never leave you alone, that is for sure.

Perfectly adequate pub grub. The staff were attentive, but not overly friendly. I had a cajun chicken burger and it was tasty, but nothing special.

The Waterline is a traditional pub, situated beside the Water of Leith, with wooden floors, ship memorabilia, and admiralty charts on the ceiling.

We went on a Tuesday night with a view to taking advantage of the two meals for £9.99.

The wine was Echo Falls red at £10. Very pleasant, as was the pint of Belhaven Best.

We shared a starter of flat bread with garlic butter, mozzarella, fresh tomato, rocket and balsamic vinegar. Served on a wooden board, along with a pizza cutter. The patter was good and the flat bread delicious. Good value at £4.49.

We both had burgers with cheese and bacon, chips and burger relish, with a side order of onion rings. The burgers were succulent and the chips home made, fresh and very tasty, whilst the onion rings were made from real onions, flavourful and nice and crispy.

Overall the bill came to under £30. Staff very friendly and attentive, great value and tasty. Well worth a visit.

The barman helped carry drinks outside without being asked which was really helpful. The menu was varied and average prices. I ordered fish and chips which had light tasty batter and fresh fish.

However our group (8 people) ordered in 2 lots. One group were given their meals at least 10 mins ahead of the rest which wasn't great especially as we'd ordered together AND 4 of the later dishes were salad!?!?

I was glad I hadn't picked a salad as some of my side salad was mucky as in not been near water. I should have said something but didn't.

I've eaten here several times and would go again hence the 3 stars. I think the negatives were just blips.

This is a lovely place to read your Sunday paper and have a pint and a bite. Relaxed, laid back. Friendly staff. I enjoy a cullin skink and some crusty break with my Sunday Times.

I had my first haggis here as well a few years back, just a little around medallions of chicken. Good way to break a "Yankee" in.

One of my favourite places in Edinburgh and I've lived here two years now.

My friends and I were at The Waterline last Thursday night. It was very busy in the back area as they had the weekly quiz on, but we managed to squeeze into a table.

As we sat down the waitress came over and took our drinks order. They have a wide range of beers on tap and in bottles aswell as a good priced wine list, which the waitress seemed to know inside out!

The food arrived fairly quick considering it was busy. I had chicken pie which came with chips (which seemed homemade) and veg. The pie was creamy and delicious! My friends who weren't as hungry shared a large plate of nachos with a generous helping of haggis and salsa layered throughout...yum!

The staff seemed on the ball with nobody sitting with dirty plates for too long, and were very friendly!

Nothing was too much of an effort, even when I ordered a coffee late on in the night.

The only downside is that we didn't win the quiz!

We will be back!

Excellent place for a relaxing lunch the day after a big night out - comfy sofas, relaxed atmosphere and good quality pub food. Also has plenty of tables out the front overlooking the Shore - ideal for an after work pint on a sunny day. Get on board.

The Mac Cheese and Haggis Parfilos are pretty decent - top pub grub and a decent atmosphere on a Friday night.

Went last night with my husband. All three courses were excellent. The cheesecake made by the head chef was one of the best that I have tasted. Only £27.50 per head for three courses, bottle of wine (between two) and three beers. Great value. One of the best places in Leith.
