Loch Fyne Restaurant
25 Pier Place, EH6 4LP, Edinburgh
from oh4goodgrub (10%) on May 2nd, 2008 (2 weeks ago)
Yes Yes Yes oh fantastic, Loch Fyne restaurant in Edinburgh, if it's as good as the origional we're in for a treat!!!
I went, I tried to get a table but couldn't. (Ah I hear you all saying "he should have booked!"). The place was practically empty, I asked the nice Maitre D for a "table for two please".
"Sorry sir it's only bookings". I looked around expecting to see a large queue forming behind me... nothing!
"You can have this leaflet which tells you all about the restaurant, and then next time phone us to reserve your table".
What next time! Maybe in a couple of years... I'll just drive to the original thanks.

We had a Thai curry take away from Mya. We paid £28 for two meals. It was terrible, really terrible. They might be good for Indian curry, but jeez bad bad Thai!

The Dell Inn

from Carolyn (13%) on May 1st, 2008 (2 weeks ago)
Went there on Saturday (26/4/08) for lunch. Plenty of staff having a great chat with each other. We had steak sandwiches and the rump steak was full of gristle. Place was very quiet. Will honestly say we won't be back even though the cook apologized. Sorry Dell Inn but you need to pull your socks up big time.

Baroque
39-41 Broughton Street, EH1 3JU, Edinburgh
from IrishScot (44%) on April 15th, 2008 (1 month ago)
Last week we booked a table for 6 people to eat at 7pm.
We arrived just before 7pm to find that although they had the reservation written in their book, they hadn't sorted out anwhere for us to sit - unless it was the table with the wrong name, that wasn't in their book???? Hhhmmm...
When we asked the staff where we were to sit, they organised 2 small tables against the wall with stools packed tightly around it that didn't afford any elbow room for us to eat. And this was with a grumpy manageress - hardly the kind of service you expect.
Thus we left to the Smoke Stack down the road which was able to fit us in, no problem, and with plenty of space - that's what I would call good service.
I'll never consider going to Baroque again.

The food we had was disppointingly salty, the service was equally poor. I definitely won't pay this place a return visit anytime soon!

Bar Aspen
66-67 South Bridge, EH1 1LS, Edinburgh
from Kate (20%) on April 10th, 2008 (1 month ago)
Food was lovely, however the place was empty and this was very obviously due to the service and standard of staff. There was only 1 girl working and she was highly patronising and rude to both me and my mother who were in Edinburgh on a holiday. Great shame as we'd been in a few days before and the service had been okay.
Don't go there unless you want to be insulted by a snotty waitress, trust in the fact that it is empty for a reason. x

Ryan's Bar
2-4 Hope Street, EH2 4DB, Edinburgh
from meheh (11%) on April 9th, 2008 (1 month ago)
I had lunch at Ryans Bar and was really not very impressed. I ordered soup of the day which was Lentil, Cumin and Coriander and it was really really gross, tasted like what I would imagine lukewarm cat's vomit to to be like... with copped chives on the top. The sandwich I ordered was Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil - not exactly complicated but despite asking to have this with NO mayo - when it arrived it was swimming in the stuff. The sandwiches were inedible as the bread was unbelievably soggy and when I checked inside there was the tiniest amount of limp salad (no basil in sight) and a really feeble looking bit of tomato. The service wasn't up to scratch, when I arrived I had a menu thrust in my face before I had a chance to take my jacket off and when I tried to get the attention to pay the bill I was left waiting for a while and I didn't get a chance to complain about the food as our waitress scuttled off.

I have been here twice but only for coffee whilst wating for the kids coming out of Heriots. True, this woman is a rude so and so and should not be in the business.

GY Chinese Takeout
27 Roseneath Place, EH9 1JD, Edinburgh
from Sam (20%) on March 22nd, 2008 (1 month ago)
I went to order some food for collection and they managed to keep me waiting for about 30 mins in the takeaway, they explained that they had forgotten to put the order through, this was unacceptable considering that the place was dead quiet.
I got home and found that my chow mein contained so much msg that after 2 mouthfuls I had to send it to the trash can.
Disappointed with the food and surprised that the previous reviews are all good and I definitely would not go back there in a hurry.

I have never been to such a terrible pub in all my life. The waiter who served us was dirty and unkept as well as being rude.
We ordered Cullen Skink which my fiance and I enjoy and had been looking forward too. It was disgusting and we did not finish eating it. My soft drink was served in a battered glass into which the waiter had stuck the can on top of the ice.
I felt we were treated with complete indifference and I will not make the mistake of going there again.
