Leave feeling dead inside - this review is based on an experience from many years ago. Everyone knows what this crap will do to you. Don't do it.

The previous two contributors were moaning about dreadful service and dire food. I had a similar experience with the rude owners. They have no qualms about raining verbal abuse on their unsuspecting customers. If you haven't yet experienced one of their tirades, count yourself lucky. If you dare to complain about being served spoilt food, then get ready to be shouted at. If you can find another restaurant in the Festival high season, then go there. If it isn't August then there's no reason to go anywhere near this shameless tourist trap.

I couldn't believe the comments made by fiftytrix72! We had nearly the same experience. I ordered avacado salad and it arrived with a partially rotten avacado, overripe tomato, lettuce that had been near a freezer, and partially burnt toast. I discovered the rotten avacado after having eaten a bit of it, but then asked the waitress to take it away. I said that I didn't want to make a fuss or have another, I just wanted it removed from my bill. A few minutes later the owner (a women) came to our table and demanded to know what my problem was. I told her and she berated me for five mintues stating that if I had eaten any of it I had to pay for it. I finally told her I would be happy to pay for it just to get her away from our table. She said that "everyone likes our food...even Americans!" What a nightmare. My daughter and friends were astounded as were other patrons who witnessed this circus. The rest of the food, by the way, was just average and the decor was not much. I wouldn't go to Sardi's unless you are willing to accept whatever they give you without complaint. If you do complain...expect a fight.

Pizza Hut
28 Kinnaird Park, EH15 3RD, Edinburgh
from badgrs (21%) on August 26th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, I worked in this 'restaurant'. Needless to say I will never eat in a Pizza Hut again. It's simply McDonalds for pizza, but A LOT more expensive. If you want the familiarity of a chain go to Pizza Express, it's the only one worth it!

OH MY GOD... people like the woman who owns this place should be kicked out of the business... we were jeered out of the restaurant in front of about 20 other customers because we sent the bruchetta back (which my 11 year old niece could do better) this was apart from the fact that we got the wrong wine TWICE... the owner told us to get out when we complained and then frog marched us to the door laughing and waving us good bye. Edinburgh Tourism... you should do something about this place... it's disgusting that restaurants like this still exist and will only damage other good restaurants in the long run.... Appalling!!! I have given it half a star because the system wont let me give a big fat ZERO!

La Rusticana
90 Hanover Street, EH2 1EL, Edinburgh
from jwjlewis (76%) on August 1st, 2007 (1 year ago)
What an awful place. I had to wait 10mins after walking in the door before being seated. I ordered a coke- which came flat, from a 2 litre bottle probably opened sometime the week before. When I complained about it and asked to change my drink, they said, "but it's already been poured, you can't change it". I kicked up a fuss and eventually the huffy waiter grabbed the drinks and slammed them down on the bar, not 2 metres away. This place should be avoided like the plague. Eat here at your peril, or if you like abusive staff! Needless to say, we walked out.

Le Monde

from jwjlewis (76%) on July 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)
What's wrong with this place? The clientèle. When I went, I walked in and immediately came across a guy doing an "all striker" - the guy from American Pie - one hand out in front, the other pretending to slap a girl's bum. If you are like that, then you'll like this pretentious place, if not, then if you find yourself going near, shoot yourself.

Operate a ridiculous door policy at weekends - my brother and I got thrown out on Saturday when the doorman realised we knew another group of guys in there. Despite this the clientele on a Saturday night is generally 90% male. This place is worth avoiding.

Food was incredibly average, service was incredibly below average, and they informed us very loudly that we had to leave about 2 minutes after we had paid as the table was needed for the next people. All in all a poor night out, with fairly rude staff. If you want rude staff, there are restaurants specifically for this, my advice - DO NOT EAT HERE.
