Clever Dick's
119 High Street, EH1 1SG, Edinburgh
from jwjlewis (76%) on July 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)
From the outside, this appears to be your normal pub, inside though, it is delightful. Great décor - how a traditional pub should look. Hopefully it won't turn into an uber-chic minimalist hole any time soon. I would strongly recommend this pub as a great place for a pint.

The Apartment
7-13 Barclay Place, EH10 4HW, Edinburgh
from robertjamessmall (11%) on July 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)
A few years ago now, but I remember this resturant to be very relaxed, comfy and good food. Can't remember any other resturants really so this one must have stood out for some reason. I managed to order something from the menu so can't backup jwjlewis' experience.

Empires
24 St Mary's Street, EH1 1SU, Edinburgh
from CScott (13%) on July 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Empires is fun and the food is varied and authentic. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed - a great place to go with a few friends to enjoy sampling new foods as you can easily share a selection of different things. Service is always very friendly, if not always very speedy.

The Waterline
The Shore, EH6 6RD, Edinburgh
from Dougie (16%) on July 18th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Excellent place for a relaxing lunch the day after a big night out - comfy sofas, relaxed atmosphere and good quality pub food. Also has plenty of tables out the front overlooking the Shore - ideal for an after work pint on a sunny day. Get on board.

No. 1 Chinese
38-39 Elm Row, EH7 4AH, Edinburgh
from Norny (13%) on July 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)
One of the better chinese takeaways in Edinburgh. Very tasty food and not too full of MSG. Reccommend the barbecue pork and the crispy duck. Also, quick delivery and reasonable cost. Plus you get a nice house-shaped box for your food. Handy.

The Canny Man's

I like this place, I have found the staff to be most friendly. And they serve Addlestons Cloudy Cider. Mmm...

Coco of Bruntsfield
174 Bruntsfield Place, EH10 4ER, Edinburgh
from jwjlewis (76%) on July 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Whilst this is predominantly a chocolate shop, it does have room for three or so people to sit in and enjoy a hot chocolate. And it is worth it. The whole shop is delicious and you will walk out with more than the hot chocolate you went in for, albeit with mush less money in your pocket!

One of the best places for breakfast around. Healthy, affordable food in a great location.

Maison Bleue
36-38 Victoria Street, EH1 2JW, Edinburgh
from lkhenson (27%) on July 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)
This place has improved so much between my first visit a few years ago to my most recent. The food was terrible and overpriced the first time, but a couple weeks ago I had one of the best lunches ever. Big up Maison Bleue

The Witchery by the Castle
352 Castlehill, EH1 2NF, Edinburgh
from lkhenson (27%) on July 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Well, the place is gorgeous. The food is not really worth the money UNLESS you go for the £12 pre theatre menu, in which case you can't go wrong.
