Golf Tavern

30-31 Wright's Houses, EH10 4HR, Edinburgh

This is a geat pub for sitting all day, with plenty sport on wide screen TVs it's a winner for a Sunday session. Food's not bad too.

The Steading

118-120 Biggar Road, EH10 7DU, Edinburgh

Excellent pub grub and a good place to stop off if you have just been to Hillend ski slope and subsequently need warmed up. Also, for some reason, the pints of Tennents here taste better than anywhere else in Edinburgh.

The Cambridge Bar

20 Young Street, EH2 4JB, Edinburgh

4 from ddcook (61%) on August 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)

2nd best burgers in town, what it slightly loses out to the best (which incidentally is Bells Diner in Stockbridge) it claws back with the huge selection of toppings, which is more than you would ever think possible. On top of offering a great selection of burgers it is a fantastic, cosy, friendly pub with a great selection of beers and regularly changing cask ales.

Bell's Diner

7 St Stephen Street, EH3 5AN, Edinburgh

4 from ddcook (61%) on August 19th, 2007 (1 year ago)

A fantastic little Stockbridge institution. Simple menus- Great burgers, steaks and omlettes. Choose one of 3 sizes of burgers and half a dozen or so toppings, service is quick and the burgers are always tasty. Pancakes for desert are fantastic, and with their size it doesn't really matter than starter options are a little sparse as 2 courses is more than ample. Service is great despite only ever having one waitress on the floor. Would score higher but it is never nice to see idiots on other tables dipping their fingers and licked spoons into the communal sauce tray before it comes to your own table.

King's Balti

79 Buccleuch Street, EH8 9LS, Edinburgh

4 from irishphat (77%) on August 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)

Been here in large groups and as the other folk said it's excellent. If you're in a small group expect to be waiting an age though. Also there's bound to be one large group causing a ruckus -- so be it. Great grub, massive naan breads (order less than you think you need) and they give you free bits of orange on your way out the door. Top joint!

Although I'm told and do agree that it's not worth going in a group less than 6 as you will be waiting ages to be served.

Bar Roma

39a Queensferry Street, EH2 4RA, Edinburgh

4 from irishphat (77%) on August 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)

I've been here several times and it's mostly been great. One person I've brought there was disappointed... almost universally otherwise it's been well received. Pizza is good there and the helpings are nice. Vibrant atmosphere and good service. Been there for an xmas party and it was carnage -- good fun but very popular so booking may be necessary on some weekends. Good family spot - I've been there with my sister and her kids.

As Mdavidson says it's good fare (they only do burgers). I'm surprised he knows the numbers of items on the menu mind you. Usually busy and they're very accommodating and well located. Food stops at half 9 though so late diners beware.

I've had several of the burgers here and they're always very tasty. Service is Quick and the chips are fine as well. always filling for what you pay as well.

Wannaburger

217 High Street, EH1 1PE, Edinburgh

4 from irishphat (77%) on August 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)

Slightly cheap on the fixtures but excellent burgers, quick service and not outrageous on the wallet. Went there for a big birthday meal and it was fine before the pub while it's always reliable for a spot of tasty lunch. I'll go again.

Chimichangas

178a Easter Road, EH7 5QQ, Edinburgh

4 from MisterT (10%) on August 17th, 2007 (1 year ago)

Generous portions for the money, 6 quid should be enough to fill you up. Food was excellent and didn't have to wait too long. Will definitely be using them again. Not sure if they deliver or not but I live a minute away so I don't need it.

Toast

146 Marchmont Road, EH9 1AQ, Edinburgh

4 from chris (13%) on August 15th, 2007 (1 year ago)

A friendly little neighbourhood cafe that really makes you appreciate living in a nice part of town like Marchmont! A good place for breakfast, or even a civilised glass of wine in the evening.
