Voujon

While the location of Voujon is slightly off the beaten track, I would thoroughly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for quality Indian cuisine.

The waiters were immensely patient with our large party. Service was excellent, and this was matched by the high quality food and wide range of dishes available. Very good value for money too.

A Room in the West End

69 William Street, EH3 7NJ, Edinburgh

5 from Alicat (27%) on April 2nd, 2008 (8 months ago)

I absolutely love this restaurant, the venue is the basement under Teuchters Pub, although there is no sign of the pub... or any noise from the pub in the restaurant. The decor is colourful paintings and casual seating with alcoves provided for those looking for some privacy or just something a little different.

The staff are casual and friendly and know about the food they have on their menu. The menu is traditional Scottish with steaks, lamb, game and an abundance of fish on offer... and of course always something for the vegetarians. Finishing with the cheeseboard has got to be one of the best decisions of the night!

To top it all off it's BYOB but you can buy there... can't say fairer than that!

The Kitchin

78 Commercial Quay, EH6 6LX, Edinburgh

5 from Thomas W L Kay (17%) on April 1st, 2008 (8 months ago)

Quality in season ingredients. Innovative and rewarding use of products. Attractive, eye catching presentation. Efficient, coutreous but friendly staff. Realistic pricing. Unhurried service. There is not much more you can ask of a restaurant.

The Hill Station

99 Comiston Road, EH10 6AG, Edinburgh

5 from Paul (17%) on March 27th, 2008 (8 months ago)

Come from London and thought that I wouldn't find a better Indian than a number of chosen ones in the east end. I was VERY wrong. I've ordered from about 10 in Edinburgh, and this is the best one by far. Good homecooked food; no one sauce that does all dishes here! Very well priced and always delivered on time.

Prawn Pathia starter is a must. In fact, any dish on the menu is a must.

Plumed Horse

50-54 Henderson Street, EH6 6DE, Edinburgh

5 from davidm (16%) on March 26th, 2008 (8 months ago)

One Word AMAZING! I heard alot of bad press about the Plumed Horse and after having one of the best meals I've had in Scotland it's fair to say that the critics know F**k all. The service was very good and the food was of the highest standard fresh and about as local as you can get. The chef deserves his Michelin star back I've had the pleasure of dining in Wisharts, the kitchin and Andrew Fairlies and this guy definitely gives them a run for their money. Even better the bill was half as much as as Wisharts. The chef even came out to ask how our meal was which was nice coming from an FnB background it's really nice to know that someone this passionate is cooking for you. I will be back...

Globetrotter

169 Bruntsfield Place, EH10 4DG, Edinburgh

5 from badgrs (21%) on March 24th, 2008 (8 months ago)

One of the finest chippies in Edinburgh. Nice chips, good service and excellent battered sausage. Oh, and they do pretty decent pizzas to boot! Even their spring rolls are a step up from Jimmys Good Food Chinese round the corner.

Monteith's

61 High Street, EH1 1SR, Edinburgh

5 from Anne Greenyer (13%) on March 23rd, 2008 (8 months ago)

Four of us ate here last night. All three courses were wonderful. The filet of beef melted in your mouth. We shall return soon. Very good chef. One negative point was that we did not think that the music was appropriate for the restaurant. Softer music would be more apt and perhaps changing over to the "bar" music at 10/10.30pm. As the restaurant is very small and cosy one would need to book.
