Thai Lemongrass

This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to! The food is top notch and the service is exceptional. The staff are very attentive and friendly without being too in your face. It's a little on the expensive side, so it's always saved for a special occasion. I would highly recommend the Thai green chicken curry, it's delicious!

Sushiya is my fave place to eat in Edinburgh.
It is small and personal and you can see your fresh sushi being prepared in front of you.
The menu is quite extensive and has recently been updated - I recommend the dragon roll - beautifully presented and delicious. There are set menus as well which are excellent value for money.
I have dined at Sushiya several times both for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed - the service can be a little slow at times but staff are attentive and pleasent.
Sushiya is excellent and by far the best Sushi restaurant in Edinburgh!

Dolce e Salato
101/102 Dalry Road, EH11 2AX, Edinburgh
from ddcook (61%) on October 10th, 2007 (1 year ago)
The best Italian cafe this side of Rome, well having never been to Italy I can't personally vouch for this but anyone I know who has visited or lived in Italy says this.
Dolce and Salato is a fantastic Italian cafe opposite La Partenope - another fine example of Italian cuisine in Dalry. When Dolce first opened it was a bamboozling array of snacks and cakes that I had never heard or seen of on my life, no fairy cakes and custard slices here- it is (I believe) traditional Italian treats on offer. Of course there is the traditional slices of pizza and mini calzone, my personal favourite is Panino, which is sort of a halfway house between a pizza and calzone, very very tasty with a wide range of toppings (or should that be fillings) available every day - the ham and ricotta and the pepper and salami, all are good though.
Sandwiches, also excellent as are the calzone and other Italian treats, none of which I know the name of!
On the sweet front, donuts and croissants are good - the the croissants are more bread than pastry like in construction and are best in the chocolate croissant format rather than plain.
As for the cakes, it makes for a lame review but I don't know the name of any of them because it is not the sort of bakery treats we have grown up with, I know what I like by look rather than name, I can recommend the ones that look like pastry horns and are filled with ricotta cheese, or the things that look like a slice of swiss roll but 10 times tastier.
Liquid treats - well the coffee is great and self confessed coffee aficianados whom I frequent Dolce with assure me it is some of the best in Edinburgh, which is good enough for me. To top it all off Dolce represents excellent value for money, much more so than any of the chain coffee shops.
Downsides, well it is so small that it can often be a struggle to get seated, and despite advertising opening at 8am I have been past well after that looking for a morning coffee and they are still shut. BUT the food and service is so good I can look past that for a perfect 5.

This is my favorite restaurant in Edinburgh (and I'm not vegetarian). Each time I have been the meal has been really great and the menu has a wide choice of really interesting dishes. It is not at all would you expect from a typical vegetarian restaurant and beats any of the others in Edinburgh hands down. The cocktails are also fantastic!

Cloisters
26 Brougham Street, EH3 9JH, Edinburgh
from vegasmonkey (36%) on September 9th, 2007 (1 year ago)
Not sure if it serves food but it is one of my favourite watering holes in Edinburgh. Always an excellent selection of ales and a great, friendly atmosphere; although sometimes full of suits on a Friday after work. The pub is in an old church, hence the name. Really simply but delightful decor.

This is the most awesomest sandwich shop in Edinburgh, in my opinion. Really good ingredients and always fresh sandwiches. My favourites include the crabmeat bagel and the pastrami and gherkin sandwich, yumm! Really good prices too. I also agree with jwjlewis, the muffeleta is brilliant.

I love Thai food and this is by far my favourite Thai restaurant in the city. Great pre-theatre and lunch deals. Portions sufficient but not overly big. The tempura veg is great and the red curry or chicken with garlic and oyster sauce is always what I choose. I should try something else but those are just so good I can't resist. The staff here are all friendly and so happy too. I have been here numerous times already this year and I have never had any complaints.

I love Nargile. The staff there are wonderful and really make you feel welcome. It's a fairly small restaurant with an intimate atmosphere.
The quality of the food is stunning, with a really good choice. You feel like you want to have everything, so it's quite difficult deciding! There is a good choice of Turkish wine available, too.
The owner obviously takes great pride in making sure everything is just right, which it is. Highly recommended.

I have been to Khushis a number of times now and it has never failed to deliver. Everything I have eaten here has tasted absolutely amazing. I was only there on Friday evening but want to go back there now (Monday).
