Restaurant Martin Wishart

54 Shore, EH6 6RA, Edinburgh

5 from DrKolarBear (20%) on July 2nd, 2008 (5 months ago)

Martin Wishart is a man who should be king. Of the kitchen. The food here is as elegant as a fever of stingrays migrating across the seas which also uncannily resembles the service. Quiet, efficient, charming but deadly. The food appears to have been romanced and the produce selected by jedi. If you have a bad meal here then there is something wrong with you and not Monsieur Wishart.

The Dell Inn

27 Lanark Road, EH14 1TG, Edinburgh

5 from realale (8%) on June 30th, 2008 (5 months ago)

Went there on Sunday with my family and had the most amazing Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and even kept the kids entertained with colouring. Would recommend it to any one. Don't know what the last review was about but some people just want to complain.

Kay's Bar

39 Jamaica St, EH3 6HF, Edinburgh

5 from Keri (17%) on June 28th, 2008 (5 months ago)

Now THIS is a pub. It's a small traditional pub off the beaten path tucked away on a side street in the New Town. I almost hesitate to tell people that it's there.

In fact, forget you read this. The seating is quite limited.

L'Alba D'Oro

7 Henderson Row, EH3 5DH, Edinburgh

5 from Keri (17%) on June 28th, 2008 (5 months ago)

I cannot believe I'm writing the first review of this established award-winning place. How did that happen?

The fish and chips are as good as it gets, but when you add battered mushrooms or prawns, you really get the idea that this is a chippy that's a cut above. The staff are nice too.

Let me just say that if I try to explain to someone where I live, all I have to say is opposite the L'Alba D'oro and people say, "Ohhhhh"

La Fontana

1 Howard Street, EH3 5JP, Edinburgh

5 from Keri (17%) on June 28th, 2008 (5 months ago)

I live in the neighbourhood but didn't visit until I had friends visiting from U.S.

The portions were "Could I have a box?"-sized and the flavour of every dish we ordered was excellent.

It's not fancy, but it's very, very comfy. (And I've been to the pricier Italians "up the road" so I know whereof I speak).

Meadowood Cafe

15 Bread Street, EH3 9AL, Edinburgh

Where do I begin? I adore the Meadowwood! I love its informal, cafe style and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is varied, with a number of Taiwanese dishes nestled in amongst Thai and Chinese offerings. The fried chicken soup noodles are my firm favourite - and my inclusion of this fact is probably going to give the game away as to my not-so-secret identity if the staff ever read this! ;)

The dim sum are fantastic: moist little parcels of heaven served in bamboo steamers. The spring rolls are crisp and crunchy. The different varieties of soups, noodle and rice meals are tasty and healthy - I always feel very virtuous having dined here! A special mention has to go to the HUGE juice and smoothie menu: these are amazing. I have recently become addicted to soya milk and pearl milk tea, all thanks to the Meadowwood cafe. :)

5 from Scott (17%) on June 25th, 2008 (5 months ago)

This popular restaurant is run by the Tersigni family and has been open for nearly three years now. It has a great buzzing atmosphere and the food is delicious and extensive.

It serves superb fish in a wonderful and charming atmosphere. Full of flavour, superb value. Here you can find best quality and quanitity in prefect Italian style.

It is just a great place to be.

Delicious food menu at great prices. Haven't experienced a delay with the food or bad service. Chilled out and unpretentious. Ideal place for drinks or food, day or night.
