The best coffee in town. Take a seat in the little snug at the back and while away an hour with a book or a friend, the lattes are the best in Edinburgh!

Agree entirely with "Rach"'s review. The coffee in Artisan is absolutely fantastic. From the outset you can feel the intense passion they maintain for ensuring their coffee is the finest and the most fresh. The smell captivates you as soon as you enter, with the strong aroma of coffee in the grind. It is a very intimate place to relax with a coffee and the interior layout is very homely and welcoming indeed. The fact that the barista's workstation is reversed (compared with the norm) means you really feel a part of the action and can see all of the machinery and staff doing there stuff - which I might add they are awesome at.

There are a few seats in the front area of Artisan, and it's lovely to sit on a nice day and watch the hustle and bustle of the people on Broughton street enjoying possibly the finest (and most attractive) latte you shall ever enjoy. There is also the cosy snug room through to the rear of the building, with a nice little window looking out into a garden and nice comfy seating. The interior design is one of a kind, with teacups as lampshades and hessian coffee sacks lining some of the walls. I have never experienced such a strange and wonderful place when pursuing my love of great coffee. The way I'd like to put it is that Artisan hasn't been "compromised" by modern society and trends. The spirit is still there and you can really pick up on this - unlike so many of these snazzy new coffee shops which seem to appear all too often.

It is nice and quiet, making it an ideal place for a student or professional to knuckle down and get some work done, or simply escape the pressures and demands of the fast-paced city life.

On an even more important note - in this day and age - the prices are extremely reasonable. I cannot remember the exact cost of my coffee however I remember it striking me that it was far cheaper then any Starbucks/Costa/coffee republic etc that I have ever tried - A vitally important reason as to why we should support the local business, let alone the fact that it was of several times greater quality!

Broughton Street is a wonderful street full of unique shops, restaurants and some great pubs and what better way to finish an afternoon having a little wonder in this area then the best coffee you will get in Edinburgh?

P.s My girlfriend says I must mention the carrot cake which is amazing.

Hope you enjoy!
