Given its location this place is always going to be a bit of a tourist trap. As you might expect from a restaurant that is part of a chain (there are over 70 Bella Italias in Britain - I just checked) the feel and ambience of the place is pretty generic and you could be anywhere.

The menu is not bad but when I visited we were given a long list of things that were not available (this might be related to us turning up without a booking at 9.30 on a Sunday evening). Then when I tried to order, what I had selected was also unavailable. I ended up with duck leg in a cherry sauce. The duck was quite succulent and tasty but the sauce was too sweet for my liking. My mates had pizzas which all looked and smelled good.

At £15/head for a shared started, mains and a bottle of wine it seemed pretty good value. Overall, not bad but I probably wouldn't choose to go there again.

Went here a few months back with another couple. They'd been there several times and booked a specific table. The place was rammed on a Friday evening. We weren't in any way rushed and the service was prompt so I'd advise booking if you really want to go.

Food was very good, nice pizza, decent pasta, we were all happy. 65 quid for all of us and we had a bottle of wine in there too. Well pleased with it and would happily go there again.

This Bella Italia is really disappointing. The other one on north bridge is really good but every time we even walk into this place they're rude to us and it's a pretty unpleasant atmosphere. We have ended up leaving nearly every time before ordering.

The restaurant was nice and the food was very good, but I have to say that the service wasn't good at all!

At the end of our meal we asked for the bill, it was given and as we were a group of young adults who had just taken money out of the bank to go out for a meal we only had £20 notes and one of my friends had two £10 notes so all four of us gave £20 to what was just over £60 meal and then realised we had given way too much. But we thought it would be ok and we would just get the extra money back in our change. When our change came back we had no where near the amount we should have, we complained to our waiter and we didn't get dealt with in a good manner - he was very rude. So then the manager came and said she would take our number and at the end of the night check the till and would contact us the next again day, but they never called back. I don't think I will be going there again!

Attended late on a Sunday evening with my partner and a friend. We were greeted with a list of dishes that were not available. It's understandable that a restaurant may run out of certain supplies, however, if it is open for business it should have a decent selection. Despite this we decided to order three dishes after tailoring our choices to what the restaurant had left in the kitchen. When the food arrived out it was just thrown on the plates with no consideration for presentation. In addition to this my partner was informed that a chef had dropped his dish on the kitchen floor. After waiting patiently, the dish arrived and had clearly been rushed in preparation and tasted as such. I ordered penne pollo - adjusted from the description on the menu - the meal was cold on arrival and barely edible. Our waiter was sympathetic to our concerns and service was decent. On the other hand, the manager was defensive and clearly knew we were unhappy with our meal but didn't seem to care. After the bill was paid, I mentioned to the manager that the food was terrible however she was not accommodating or understanding in any way whatsoever. She was very rude. I would not recommend this restaurant to any one who is looking for an enjoyable meal.

Dined with a party of 15 on saturday 22nd September 2012. Service was okay until the main meals arrived. 3 of the party had to wait a good 5 minutes after the majority were served this resulted in a couple of the party nearly finishing their meal with other members watching them eating wondering why their meal had not arrived. Food very average! We were on the first floor and a visit to the ladies was certainly an experience. The floor was littered with dirty hand towels and out of 3 cubicles only 1 was usable the other two were disgusting. I mentioned this to a waiter on my way back to our table his reply was "I will inform the manager". Maybe these toilets should have been put out of order? So nobody could enter them. Would not visit this restaurant again as these kind of things tend to put me off! This was a very disappointing night out to celebrate my niece's 21st.
